Dont know if intended, but unlike Vanilla WOTC, Volt is physical damage now which is mitigated by armor.
In Vanilla it was psionic which made it ignore armor, from the description of the mod I think it should be electrical like combat protocol? If it is then it still would make sense for it to bypass armor (similar to combat protocol).

When empowered, Volt will bypass both shields and armor.

Originally I had it bypassing armor from the start, but it got tuned down. It also received a slight damage nerf from the original numbers, which I'm considering reverting. If it feels a little under-tuned, that would be the dial I would turn.
I've yet to play much with this mod's Templars, but I'm wondering how Harden (one focus pt for 4 shield points) can compete with Parry's 100% negation of a single attack for one focus. Or will they have different enough niches once I actually get to playing?

Parry can be wasted if you dont get shot at, but Harden's shield points will stick around for use later. Parry will usually be better if you know you will take a hit and can control the engagement, but Harden is like banking that protection for later, possibly when you wont have any focus left to rely on Parry.
Is there any chance that the standard pistol can be added to their weapon list? Its mostly a cosmetic change due to autopistols and regular pistols having very little stat differences.

Just wondering, are Templar Acolytes not supposed to be able to utilize the chosen weakness to Templar? or did I miss something.
shiremct  [dezvoltator] 27 mart. 2022 la 9:38
Unfortunately, they can't due to the nature of how that weakness and normal faction soldiers are implemented (they are different character templates than normal soldiers).
DUMBHA 27 mart. 2022 la 22:39
Ah, that's why. Ok, understandable.
I am not sure if this is intended or not. If a soldier in the character pool is set to appear as a templar acolyte and using the use my class mod such a soldier can appear even before templars have been contacted. I absolutely love the proficiency classes, especially the reaper.

It's not necessarily intended, but there is also nothing I can do to stop that interaction.
Thanks for the quick answer. I could change the class in the character pool but I do not mind getting a templar early. I always start with a reaper so it is nice if I can get a templar early.
I'm finding the Templar much more fun after making Volt just cost 2 focus, but deal way more damage. Having a dedicated "Kill mechanical enemies button" feels a bit too boring and situational for my liking, and it just feels kinda bad to not have a proper offensive outlet for focus until Major.
Also I have my gripes with meditate and how it makes you feel like you need to "Reload" at every chance you get. So I've just made it a 1AP move that just gives 1 focus, so the Templar always has access to their basic brand, psi strike and harden if they're willing to spend the 1AP.
Nerfing meditate like this also fixes my issue of the Templar just being able to summon psi zombies for essentially nothing.

I'm not sure if this works, but I've tried to use Boundir's repurpose abilities to give empowered psi zombies a suicide vest perk, kinda like the Warlock's own spectral zombies. So I've got high mobility regular psi zombies, and the slower and tankier empowered suicide zombies. No clue if that will work out or not.

That's an interesting take on meditate and I may explore it in the future. I initially had Volt function more like this, but found it was sometimes difficult to build up focus early on and then it essentially became a wasted perk, which is an issue especially for a class' first unlock - but currently it's very very similar to Psi Strike, and I'm not really happy with it.

Adding abilities to the zombie character templates should work, just note there are two versions, WOTC_APA_Templar_EmpoweredPsiZombie and WOTC_APA_Templar_EmpoweredPsiZombieHuman.
Yeah, having played the mod for a while now; i agree on the somewhat bland "click to kill a mech" nature of volt. & also agree with @shiremct's point about it currently being similar to psi strike.

Personally i was a bit sad the "bouncy" volt is gone.
Wish it was still in somehow; perhaps each subsequent bounce dealing 75% of the last one's damage? To compensate for having higher max focus cap (and thus more max bounces) than vanilla. And making it so that it only applies castigate on the first target (if that ability is learned).
I rekon it'd be fun to flick psi lightnings at groups of enemies :)

Of course its merely a suggestion and its cool if it stays as is. The rest of the class is spectacular btw, been having a blast for a while now :D

Thanks again for the mod @shiremct!

I feel like it’d be more fun/balanced if they started with 1 starting focus at Proficiency 1 and then for 2 it’d be 2 and 3 it’d be 3. Templars feel very weak early game and it would also scale better with the max focus you can get in my opinion. Also, it doesn’t make sense to me that they get 1 starting focus at Proficiency 2 but get not extra at Proficiency 3. It'd be awesome if I could edit this in the configs.
