Suggestions - New Gears
Share here your suggestions for new gears and maybe a picture to help me understand what kind of gear is it. Sorry I'm not expert on the matter so names can be misleading some times.

Future gears:
- Other large grid gears (bevel gears are missing)
- Internal Gears
- Worm Gears
- Linear Actuator (Screw and Bolt like gears)
- Gears with holes (Get your differentials ready!)

Any update on looking into how these gears would work using wheel-block collision style? Also, any chance on getting a single-block version of the horizontal gear along with a hinge-type variant of it? I'll be honest, I'm thinking that these could create some really boss tank treads, even if they won't move any vehicle fast enough lmao. Regardless, having single- or even double-sided gear hinges and single-block variants could create the first real motor belt mechanic possible.

Hi, actually the single block rack wasn't possible because it would cut some teeth, while the 3 long block was the perfect size so you could align more on the same line. For a 1 long rack I'd have to make a specific rack and specific gears that work with it, since gears work well togheter only if they have the same module (which is #teeth / radius).
I was thinking on adding low-cost hinges and rotors which don't really act as powered parts but just as joints, which is closer to what you asked. Sure the tank track/conveyor belt is a nice idea, but I'll have to build specific parts for it.
For the wheel-style block collision, I tried looking into it but I haven't found anything different from normal blocks, so I guess I'm missing something. If you can help you're welcome. :D
This (old and now unfortunately useless due to game updates) gear mod:
https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=315432320&searchtext=gear

Had a gear on a shaft that worked like a wheel (rotor) on an axle as long as it had power.
Would be great to have that in this mod so we didn't have to use rotors.

Do you mean this block behaves like a rotor turned off (free to spin)? Or you mean a more compact gear-rotor system, which in practical terms is a smaller rotor with a gear on the head?
It rotates like a rotor as long as it has power. He explains it in a few seconds in the first video included in the description. The shaft is like the bottom part of a rotor and the gear is like the top part of a rotor. It has torque and brake settings for it in the terminal. It would be nice to also have speed, he doesn't mention what the speed is or if there's a setting. I haven't tested it due to comments on that mod sharing that it no longer works well (collisions are too weak in the mod now because of the mods age, game updates).

What's got me really excited about this mod is I have an infinite drill I built off of this idea:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzXQQcAFkjU

My drill uses conveyor junctions so it builds a conveyor system as it moves forward. Merge blocks connect the conveyor as it builds it to cargo containers in a factory facility. The problem with that design I've run in to is that even though the drills and conveyor system is empty it will only go 150 blocks and won't go any further.
I'm not positive why it stops and won't go forward anymore but I think it's because the piston isn't strong enough to push all the weight of the drills and the conveyor system in front of it anymore. It's horizontal digging a tunnel so gravity isn't helping it. I've pushed the piston's strength settings as far as they will go and it still won't go any further than 142 blocks.

I think with this gear mod if I re-design this infinite tether idea with gears, especially if there were a gear like a rotor that was super strong and nearly indestructible, it would go on forever - until I hit the stop button to stop it. With gears, too, the mass of the conveyor system wouldn't be a variable either because the gear-rotors would only have to carry the weight of the car, not push everything in front of it forward like the piston design.

Not only for a machine like mine but having a really strong gear rotor that's powered and spins can open the door to a ton of other designs other people probably have that they haven't been able to pull of with rotors or pistons or wheels and suspensions.

I'm working on building a geared design of my infinite drill and conveyor system. I'll show it off when I get it complete and working.

I have 4 more suggestions I hope you'll consider making and including:

1. Gears with holes in them so we can put them directly on a beam or pinion piece.

2. A roller pin. Just a free-spinning smooth "tube" on a shaft. Something like how these work:

They're used on industrial conveyor lines. They don't need to be that wide in my opinion. We could use several and make something like this to guide things if they were 1x1 small or 3x3 large blocks:

3. A worm gear:

4. A sprocket / gear on a suspension. Can you simply modify the wheel suspension to put a gear on it instead of a tire?

Edit: Finally noticed I misspelled "Holes" as HolDs. <smh> lol

Any plan adding Small block to Large blocks versions?
I have Small block lift that has big gear on rotor.
Problem is that Station (base) is using 8 teeth Rack so the teeth are huge compared to small block large gear.

I can "cheat" by using adv.rotor and attach big rotor head from large_block_rotor then add small Gear to that block.
It is tricky to do in survival.

In simple terms i like to use Lift made of "Small blocks" on "Large Blocks".

Also asking this as game performance is better if i use large blocks compared to make hyperlong rails from small blocks that are connected with rotors(as rail base).
Any chance of getting a sloped block with the gear teeth? Want a sloped track for the gears to work on.
I don't know how easy or hard implementation would be, but would it be possible to implement a multi-sided rail block? To name a few examples that would be extremely helpful:

A rail block with teeth on 2 opposing sides
A rail block with teeth on 2 adjacent sides
A rail block with teeth on 4 sides leaving 2 opposing sides smooth

Adding the first two alone would massively reduce the size of a lot of builds already.

Could we get an update? The module (non-legacy) gears won't place in current game version on small ships. They collide with one another, so the game refuses to allow placement of more than just a single gear. Also, the 1x1 bevel gear for the hypoid set does not engage the larger gear.

Also, can we get more gears in different sizes? Maybe a (technically) 2x2 pinion?

Also, could we get some rails and rollers? For sliding things to roll on?
