Pretty cool mod! my suggestion would be to remove the ability to purchase Hiver eggs. Its very easy to purchase a large number of eggs and get 5+ colonists, plus it doesn't make much sense for Hiver's to be willing to sell the eggs in the first place; they're kinda important to the colonies survival and all.

i noticed the hivers as a whole mental break too easy, them not minding having a barrack is nice in the early game but they also dont get bedroom buffs which makes them more likly to break then normal humans, ive had to basically turn them all into drug addicts to stay sane at only 100k wealth which is kinda funny,
BUT i think a higher mental break threshold OR a flat buff to mood being a hiver might work better since thier bugs that dont much care for luxury, other then the queen and prince
Just an idea, love the mod btw!

I'll see if I can whitelist the bedroom buff, but currently they should enjoy having their own bedroom, if they have a barracks though then they won't enjoy it no matter how impressive it is. I'll look into it either way. Also: thank you!

Hivers with a Queen, lore wise should be in an almost trance-like state, this could translate with them having a permanent joyfuzz effect called something like "queen pheromones" that persists as long as the queen is healthy. In kenshi hivers simply do not care about anything until they become hiveless.
My suggestion is to implement this heavy mood buff whenever the queen is around, and an extremely bad mood debuff when the queen dies or even a smaller one if she's in pain. Queens are the center of the hive so they shouldn't be treated like a regular pawn.
Also, Hivers shouldn't care about eating or butchering humans, they won't do it in kenshi only because of their trading policy, but should the need arise they would do it in a blink of an eye, because as i said before, they are in this mindless trance-like state where they don't care about much other than what needs to be done for the good of the whole.
Now, hivers that detach from the hive, that's another story.
The mod is great but while the "queenless" gameplay is pretty much there, the true hive gameplay just doesn't feel right. Doesn't make much sense for my hive to have people constantly trying to murder each other/get depressed/crave chemicals etc. The queen should greatly alter the hive gameplay as a whole imho.

Sadly it would be exceedingly difficult to code a "pheromone aura" mechanic to a queens hivers, I also do not see a way to have queens not suddenly thrall any of the players previous hiver colonists if you capture a queen or if one is on the map. And while hivers are under control of their queen they never would eat humans, it would probably sully their image to those nasty no-hives, but savage hivers are perfectly fine with eating humans, and even their own larva if the need arises.

Couldn't you just copy how the psychic harmonizer works? I can see that implementing it as i first suggested is hard, but even a mood buff to the whole colony while the queen is there can be enough imho, without worrying about free hivers and such.
Any plan to add fogmen? I love my blue bugs.

Since the empire is permanently -100 relations to you even at the game start because as you said they we're xenophobic like the holy nation, can you change the childhood backstories to be able to use natural meditation since the only way to get psylinks atm is from quests and its pops up rarely with that reward

I cannot add such a feature without it overlapping onto normal hivers, I would also need to force a prosthetic onto a queen, which could be taken out and put into a average non-queen pawn; finding a way to fix this would just be exceedingly hard with my very little modding knowledge.

I'll try! I'm not sure how though..

Maybe as a standalone mod in the future, but for now Rim-Hivers is complete.

I posted it in the comments and then I saw this thread, so sorry for the double post. Fogmen would work great in the new expansion since you can make cannibal civs, all you'd need is to make a queenless blue-tinted version with a cannibal ideologion.

Yep! I actually have about half of the necessary assets for them, but they will not be added to this mod as not only do I think it'd make it too heavy, but also because some people may not want another type of horde enemy. So it will probably be uploaded as a add-on mod, just thinking about whether to make them a hidden faction or a conventional faction.

If you are looking for something to add as an update or an optional mod there's a non-canon new class of hiver from the Kenshi mod 'Hives expanded'. The new class of hiver called the 'Hive Praetorian' which were giant royal guards to the queen. Not from the official game but I could see these as an option to make hiver raids a little more difficult. They also had fogmen variants you could find rarely in the fog.

I've thought about it! But I am unsure of how to go about it as I'd also need to make them a very rare hatchable hiver from a queens larva. And how to make them taller visually without clipping as 1.3 did change pawns texture sizes.
I've also floated the idea of just making an addition mod where you can reliably create "royal" hivers like queens & praetorians by using a royal-honey item on larval princes & soldiers.

But that's still up in the air, anything may change!
