Version 2.0 Released
While the initial version was a good starting point in my mind, the gameplay felt unsatisfying and it seemed many players did not understand the AI strategy of targeting the strongest player, so they felt it was frustrating to play when the AI gangs up on you. (There were ways to avoid it but if players aren't able to figure it out, then it is badly designed).

I have made some pretty big changes to how the game plays, enough that I consider this to be version "2.0". Here are the changes introduced by the latest version:

Version 2.0 Changes
  • Changed hero spawning to be in each player's own base (and removed spawnpoint buildings).
  • 1 hero will spawn in per spawner overall. If that hero remains alive during the next spawn cycle the player does not get an additional hero. For example, if you have 2 Adept Spawners and 1 Cultist Spawner, and at the time of the spawn cycle you have 2 Adepts and 0 Cultists in play, you would only spawn in 1 Cultist since you already have 2 Adepts fulfilling the 2 Adept Spawner slots (Previously you would always get new heroes each spawn cycle even if they survive).
  • Balanced costs of booster buildings to reflect impact of each one.
  • Added new building type - "Destructor". These spawn in different types of enemy monsters near each enemy palace once every 5 days.
  • AI now targets opponents more randomly for reward flags.
  • Several other smaller balance changes.

I never played that, but I kind of took inspiration from an Age of Empires II scenario I used to play years ago called "Castle Blood", which I imagine is pretty similar to what you played in Warcraft 3 since I think the Warcraft RTS games inspired the Age of Empires series.

Didn't play popular wc3 maps? My fellow modder, you could use so many ideas from it =). DoTa, AoS, Castle fight, Elves vs Troll, Hero Siege, Legion TD and other, Footman Frenzy and dozens more all implemented in majesty style setting would look at least interesting.

I thought about doing smth like that lately but nowadays too few people play majesty so glory days with >1k visitors are over :p

Better to plan on Majesty 3 ^0^
