dying survivors
will a dead suvivors stay dead after relaunching the game?

Yeah. You can back up your NPCs but it's not ideal as they won't respawn with you, they'll respawn where you last left them or become MIA.. which is as good as dead. You can always press U to see who's alive or dead.
