Tree Anarchy - solution to delete trees easily
The new tree anarchy behavior is to keep the freedom of placing trees and at the same time provide the ability to delete the trees when placing roads and buildings.

To turn on tree anarchy, the current key binding is ALT + A. You may re-assign it to your preferred key binding. You may also click on the "tree anarchy" icon located in the indicator panel usually located between the demand panel and temperature panel.

The current default behavior is to unhide the trees which has been hidden by roads and buildings. This is to cope with avid detailers, who also use my Prop Anarchy + EML mod, to prevent props being hidden as well.

If you don't use Prop Anarchy + EML, and you're not into detailing and just play this game for its gameplay, I've included an option in the option panel to "Hide tree on load", which you can enable if you want to keep trees hidden.

In the case that you want to unhide trees, there are a couple ways to delete these trees easily without going through the map and deleting them one by one.
Solution one - This is the easiest
  • Go to Tree Anarchy option panel, and select "Delete tree" on overlap
  • Turn off tree anarchy either pressing ALT+A or clicking the anarchy on indicator panel
  • Then use move it and slightly nudge the road or building and the trees will be deleted. You may use MoveIt undo to move the road or building back to its original position. You may also select all the roads and buildings using MoveIt marquee selector.
Solution two
  • Go to Tree Anarchy option panel and select " Delete tree" on overlap
  • Turn off tree anarchy either pressing ALT+A or clicking the anarchy on indicator panel
  • Then use the road tool and upgrade the roads, or place new buildings and the trees in the area will be deleted.

As a side note. Hidden trees affect performance of the game, hence why detailers like myself prefer to delete the trees.

Hiya!, I've noticed quite a bit of maps have trees placed which then the map-maker placed the highways or initial infrastructure on trees that they placed (likely with brushes during design); including my own. Is there any way to cleanup the trees for the entire map, especially for map-makers? I do not have EML nor any anarchy loaded in editors, but I still experience this when starting a new city with the problematic maps.

"Hide trees on load" doesn't seem to be working, at least not today and not for me. Lots of trees popped up in the middle of roadways when I loaded a save, and when I checked the settings, "Hide trees on load" was already enabled.

今天Transfer Manager CE 的作者更新了1.3.9版的。打开游戏就提醒与Tree Anarchy 1.3.5冲突了!

is there a better way to remove trees? Hide trees on load with the delete option doesn't seem to work and when i move and undo roads all my zones and road settings get messed up.
i made the mistake and built an entire city with tree anarchy active and now every time there is a fire it spreads like crazy, i suspect i have a lot of invisible trees that catch on fire.

If you set 'delete tree' on load, does it delete any tree within any network/building boundary, or will manually placed trees (e.g. in a planter prop) remain? I usually delete trees as I go, so not a big issue for me, just curious.

I imagine the key use case is to delete trees on load when starting a new map so it's as clean as possible before starting to detail.
