Maximum Tree Limit vs Performance
With the recent update to Tree Anarchy, I've allowed the maximum tree limit to be raised to 5 million trees due to popular requests on Discord.

Here I'd like to state the importance of tree limit vs FPS
  • The larger the tree buffer (tree limit) the slower the rendering speed will be. The loss in FPS would be between ~1FPS to ~3FPS depending on how large your tree buffer is. You will also experience a slightly longer loading time as the map needs to update more trees.
  • It is better that you only extend the limit to as much of trees you plan to plant on your map, instead of increasing it to the maximum unnecessarily. I've worked very hard to get the tree rendering framework to render faster, and the main focus was to get the trees to render faster in order to leverage for the increase in tree limit.

What happens if tree limit slider is decreased before loading a save created when slider was higher value? Do the excess trees simply get culled?

Being able to see current tree count (as in actual 'planted' trees in the city) in the TA mod options screen might be useful?

The trees get repacked if its limit is shrunk, but if the number of trees on a map doesn't fit in the shrunken tree buffer, the mod will automatically increase tree limit to fit all the trees
It's not possible to get tree count before the game loads, because the data isn't even loaded.
