I'll definitely have a go at making it.
I'd love to see it! As a server owner it's a pain to have to balance for larger packs like Weapon core or AWG's packs.
I think a way to configure it would be nice but I think stats by default of stored energy should be half of battery one at least. Seen the small grid version is 2/3 the size of battery small grid I expect even less the half for small grid.
Also no reason to not have symmetric input/output like vanilla no ? I would suggest to use vanilla battery X 10.
Would be nice to also have a Small Capacitor like the Small Battery.
Stats:
Large Grid Capacitor:
Max output - 120MW
Max input - 120M
Max stored power - 2MWh
Small Grid Capacitor (Not size scaled):
Max output - 26.67 MW (40MW)
Max input - 26.67 MW (40MW)
Max stored power - 333.3 kWh (500kWh)
Small Grid Small Capacitor:
Max output - 2MW
Max input - 2MW
Max stored power - 25kWh
So for x10 input/output rate you get a half capacity nerf.I think it's would make the mod way more role playing.
On the components, I think this could also be revised, if you take the stats sujection I just make it's make not sense that capacitor use more power cell that battery. And seen the purpose they have I think add superconductor make sense:
Components:
Large Grid Capacitor:
Steel Plates - 60
Construction Components - 20
- Hack protection -
Computer - 25
- Working -
Power Cell - 40
Superconductor - 10
Construction Components - 10
Steel Plates - 20
Small Grid Capacitor (Not size scaled):
Steel Plates - 13 (20)
Construction Components - 2 (3)
- Hack protection -
Computer - 2 (2)
- Working -
Power Cell - 13 (20)
Superconductor - 3 (5)
Construction Components - 2 (2)
Steel Plates - 3 (5)
Small Grid Small Capacitor:
Steel Plates - 2
Construction Components - 1
- Hack protection -
Computer - 2
- Working -
Power Cell - 2
Superconductor - 1
Construction Components - 1
Steel Plates - 2
This will make it require gold, 10 superconductor is about 6.7 gold. I think it's make it nice balance in survival mode.
I've been looking into changing the stats for few days now, thanks so much for the feedback I'll definitely incorporate these ideas!
I mess up the Battery vanilla capacity I mixed with the previous capacitor, the Large Grid Capacitor should have 1.5 MWh but 2 MWh is fine anyway.
I also see you choice to not scale the Small Grid Capacitor is there a any reason (no reason is fine that your mod)
No need to credit me but thank you.
Atm its basically a advanced battery. Thought I'd give my ideas on this because I feel like a lot of people would use it as it is not something added yet to my knowledge.
- Input 1/2 of a normal battery
- Output 1/4 of a normal battery
- Storage 4-8x a normal battery
From here it splits into two ideas
==============
Bit unbalanced but sticking near where you had it in terms of making a battery
- Option to toggle between input/output boost (Input x4, output x8) useable as a ship button
- Should have a cool down of at least 10m if possible
==============
Far more balanced in the majority of cases
- Option to "Rapidly Discharge" usable as a ship button
- Discharge Boosts energy output to 8-16x depending on grid size
- It should overheat and stop working for 20m after 5m of usage
==============
These two ideas would be something original in the game to my knowledge. While the cool downs are long just that could decide if you win a fight in pvp/pve or not. It could also provide power to engines that are togglable due to mass power usage for a short time giving a maneuverability boost or do the same to a mass number of turrets a ship that size normally couldn't keep powered. Set up right the balanced option could be used in numerous ways to gain a tactical advantage and it keeps the feel of the game :D
- If you add the second balanced option I'd recommend adding a fancy non annoying space theme energy DEEP sound when rapid discharge is active. If you have the time/resources I mean.... People eat that up
