i recently remembered some stuff that could be used for an update and mission trees (it's from a decently reliable source). historically before Thrace became a subject of Rome they recreated Macedon in a way that was basically an ancient personal union of sorts (the first born son of the ruler of Thrace was the son of a sister of the starting ruler of Macedon. the starting ruling Family of Macedon was killed off (making the heir of Thrace the only legitimate heir of Macedon) and the ruler of Thrace used this claim to take the thrown of Alexander as a propaganda move (he had no bloodline connection to Alexander and neither did any of his children, but he did have a claim to Macedon (via his son) who in turn held control over Alexander's thrown after he passed away). the ruler of Thrace likely also was trying to create an Heir with a bloodline claim to all other diadochi (he had a child with a relative of the ruler of Egypt. he had Children with the sister of the ruler of Macedon. if I'm not mistaken he tried to arrange a marriage with the royal family of the Seleucid empire but it was declined, and it was clear he didn't like the Antigonids and was a Friend of the ruler of Macedon but notably not an ally), the ruler of Thrace in this way could have been trying to honor Alexander's legacy via bloodline connections and may have been trying to play a long con type of game regarding legitimacy and diadochi bloodlines

also. after Rome did historically annex Macedon from Thrace they subjugated Thrace as a separate nation and for some reason allowed them (and the nobles from Macedon) to keep there jobs and they gained some amount of influence in Rome, but there ultimate fate is unknown because of stuff such as burnt/destroyed history records (though they likely didn't move from where they were)
