Retro SLRR 2.2.1 mod and You! Guide, Info and FAQ for the mod.
Thank you for reading this thread.

Inspiration for this mod was from a comment on a different mod https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1362267559

The comment from Fqllen0ut:
"Idk if this is still alive but it would be very cool if you thought about adding back the classic loading screens for both used and new car dealership, the one that had both looking like cartoony and had the new car guy fat and a ciggar in his mouth and the used car dealer was skinny and weird lookin"

Troubleshooting Tips for "File path is incorrect" & "Customer Installer" Problems:
1. Make your game & workshop files are in the same location (Drive)
2. Run "_CustomWorkshopInstaller.exe" instead of "_CustomWorkshopInstaller_20.exe".
3. Make sure the folders are under your ownership.
4. Redownload the game or use your backup

5. Copy the mod files manually (Do this after you installed your other mods). Go to "#:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\workshop\content\". Now look for the folder "497180" (That's your SLRR workshop mods folder) [If you can not find that folder, look on your other drives]. Once your in that folder, search for "2546473295" (Thats my mod's folder), now go in it. There should be 2 folders "decals" & "frontend", Now copy both. Now go to the game's main folder, which should be "#:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Street Legal Racing Redline". Now paste both folders in the main game folder (Do not paste into the other folders). You should get a message talking about overwriting/replacing files, go ahead and overwrite/replace files. Now you should be ready to go.

FAQ:

Q: Are these images original?
A: Yes they are. Converted from DDS to PNG. Some of the loading screens had unnecessary transparent backgrounds so I cropped those that had it. The images are stretched based on your aspect ratio.

Q: How do I change the look of my racer?
A: This gonna be technical, so hang tight. Go to \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Street Legal Racing Redline\frontend\textures\interface\profiles . Find your racer out of the 1 to 59 dds files and make a copy. For example, you should have now: "06 - Copy.dds" . Make a backup of "vince.dds" and then rename your racer copy to "vince.dds" and there you go!

Q: Could you do buttons and other GUI elements next?
A: maybe, a good number of them are in PTX format. I can't find a single PTX editor, let alone a viewer. I cant find a PTX converter either. So that's probably on hold.

Q: Could you do sounds?
A: That's also maybe. It probably would have to be its own mod like SL1&2 Tunes.

Q: Where's the pictures for the money & pink slips when you win the race?
A: I don't know how to inject them back into the game.

Q: Could you bring back the driving UI elements?
A: The gps would be easy but in terms of the speedoemeter, etc it would be hard. If I was able to bring it back it would look horrible on 16:9 screens. Personally I think the 2.3.1 speedometers are better than the 2.2.1 one.

Q: How come the Trade-In dealership loading screens haven't changed?
A: Because 2.2.1 never had a Trade-In dealership. I was thinking about using the "New" dealership screens, because the Trade-In dealership is in a way also one. I was also thinking about the idea of using the generic 2.2.1 loading screen but that didn't feel right. In the end, I left it be, but I am leaning towards using the "New" dealership screens. I want the public's opinion.

Random talk:
In 2016, I started playing SLRR games (because of WhyBeAre), mainly those SLRR 2.2.1 buggy, high GB modpacks. Later I played the 2.3.1 release. 2.3.1 felt more clean and had more features but the charm was kind of lost. 2.2.1 had a gritty good feel to it, and I loved it. I do love how every car in 2.3.1 has its own speedometer but the generic one in 2.2.1 had a good charm still. I played a little bit of SL1 had thought it was okay. SL1 did have the best looking engines out of the whole SL series.

Rip the OG Vstanced website and the GOMTeam website. A good modpack lost to time is "Need For Speed SLRR Edition Final"
