Reforged Eden 1 is no longer being supported:
It will no longer receive any new content, bug fixes, or compatibility updates. No support is offered anymore.
I strongly recommend playing Reforged Eden 2 instead.


The below information may be out of date or no longer relevant. It is preserved for anyone who is still playing this scenario. Please do not post about any issues with the scenario as I will be unable to assist you.



Before you post:
  • Please fully read through the instructions and try the basic troubleshooting methods posted below where applicable.
  • Check if your issue has already been reported under the list of known issues, or read through some of the recent replies in this post or on the main comments section.
  • The game developers generally cannot assist with problems encountered while playing custom scenarios, and custom scenarios cannot assist with game bugs. This makes it important to first check if the problem happens in a vanilla save game so you know the proper place to report the issue.
  • The Reforged Eden workshop page is the only place I can offer support. I do not offer support on Discord or any other forum.

Troubleshooting steps:
Look over the in-game Empyriopedia in the PDA (F1 key) in case your question is answered in there.
If you're encountering an issue in the game first try some of these steps.
Not all steps will apply depending on your specific issue and where it's happening (single player, coop, or dedicated server, etc).
Many problems can be solved by doing one of the following steps. If the problem still happens after doing one step try the next step.
If you are playing single player internet access to the Steam network is required unless you have installed a local copy of the scenario.

Troubleshooting for single player:
  1. Fully exit the game back to Windows and then launch it again.

  2. If you are playing on a server then contact your server admin for assistance as it's likely to be an issue on their end. If you are playing single player then try the steps below.

  3. Verify the Reforged Eden build number shown on the loading screen or top left of the player inventory matches the latest build number shown in the Change Notes. If it does not then you are running an outdated version of the scenario and trying either of the below steps may update it for you.

  4. Validate files in Steam. Right click Empyrion in your Steam Library > Properties > Installed Files > Verify integrity of game files.

  5. Unsubscribe and resubscribe to the scenario on the Steam Workshop.

  6. If the problem does not involve a scenario specific POI, block, or NPC then try to reproduce the problem in a vanilla save game using the same situation, game mode, and type (survival or creative, singleplayer coop or dedicated server, space or planet, etc). If the problem happens in vanilla you can report the issue on the game's bug reporting form.

  7. If none of the above has solved the problem please report the issue here.

  5. Update the scenario on your server by re-uploading all scenario files to your server. Make sure to use the same scenario folder name as the scenario's name cannot be changed in an existing save game.

  6. If you use a FTP client to upload files, make sure the transfer mode is set to binary in your FTP client to avoid missing block models and visual effects.

  7. If the problem does not involve a scenario specific POI, block, or NPC then try to reproduce the problem in a vanilla save game using the same situation, game mode, and type (survival or creative, singleplayer coop or dedicated server, space or planet, etc). If the problem happens in vanilla you can report the issue on the game's bug reporting form.

  8. If none of the above has solved the problem please report the issue here.

Reporting an issue:
  • Make a new comment here with as much detail as you can.
    Please be specific by using the exact names as shown in-game when mentioning the names of items, blocks, POIs, etc if you are able.
  • Include star class, playfield type and any other identifiers to help know what playfield type the problem happens in, if applicable.
  • Please do not include whole logs, but parts of logs that show a specific error will help.
  • Check out the list of known issues below to make sure your issue has not already been reported.

The first just means your shields are off.
The second may be server corruption of some kind.

Ok this is to report further issues with the system since the patch.
1. Shields appear off and inactive but cannot be made active at all. They stay red even when turned on in the P Menu. As a method of checking scenarios I removed the Shield charger unit to check the shield generator. I was going take the generator out and put it back again to see if that fixed the problem. I logged off and came back several hours later to find that the shield emitter, advanced small generator and some other components were missing. When I tried putting the unit on the repair bay to replace all the missing blocks, the console said there was no ship on the bay. Now the ship is actually unusable due to the power overloading and the next problem I have.

2. Something very wrong is occurring with inventories. All my manufacturing items, including the food processor, do not work because they see the destination container as full. I have checked carefully and this is not the case. I cannot make anything. I have also attempted to collect items and put them in a storage using the wifi system. I keep getting "no inventory space" errors even though there is plenty of space. As the whole game is about inventories in some manner or another, this issue is game breaking.

I'm am still trying to contact the server owner. Has anyone else experienced these issues? Any resolution steps I should pass on to the server admins?

I get this error on an fresh install "Error starting dedicated server: messageToken" the server just exits after that. Thats the only error i get in the log file after the server only runs for a few secounds does anyone know how to fix it?

Yes this definitely is something wrong with the server.
I've never heard of either of those issues before.

That sounds like a problem with the server install itself. I haven't really ran a dedicated server myself.

Try starting a new save game using one of the vanilla scenarios, change the name of the save game and keep everything else the same and see if it happens still?

If it works, change the save game name again and change the scenario back to RE.

I tried that multiple times but i got the same error. So am not sure how to fix it, its not much information in the log either, its just pc specs then:

Started the scenario in Creative mode and selected starting planet Sharee in order to test a CV without weapons and install them. Installing two types with two different weapons count, Artillery cannon and Advanced laser cannon.

In the vanilla creative scenario and RE 1.10 we can exceed the installation of number of weapons exceeding the default but the problem with RE only is that if the player sits on cockpit the displayed number of weapons on the bar is altered, showing fewer for both types, lower than the default. This does not happen with vanilla. weapon count on two different types is shown on the bar correctly.

I.e Artillery Cannon Max w.c. 12 installed 14
Advanced Laser Cannon Max w.c. 16 installed 18

When the player sits on the cockpit the numbers shown in the bar are 3 and 9 respectively. The CV is build for usage on both vanilla and RE ( LF Gozantii II) Also tested with (LF Nebulon B Frigate) with same results.

Yes thank you. I was wondering if we can alter this number only for weapons. Is it hard-coded like the total amount of turrets able to fire simultaneously?

Hi again :) Hi, I did some research to finally finish the mission + Talon "Instigator" mission stuck/broken and found out that this problem has existed since 2021. And it doesn't work on another start planet either. I don't understand why it is still not fixed. But ok, I hope it works in version RE 2

There has been a lot of new mission tech added since then. Many of those missions will need a rewrite for RE2.

I am unable to update the reforged eden scenario to build 63. I am currently on build 51, I validated the files on steam and unsubscribed and subscribed and issue persists I am playing in single player mode

What is the name of the scenario shown for your save game in the load game menu?
