I'd recommend playing RE2 where not only is a lot more of this explained in the PDA but also progression is more streamlined overall.

But you can get them from traders and/or loot.

yeah I plan to but I'm playing the less grindy version of RE called Space Cowboys and atm it's still on RE1 but I'll look into RE2 more
