Q: Who is 'The Patriot'?
A: The Patriot is an antagonist from the mobile gacha game 'Arknights'. He belongs to a faction called 'Reunion', which comprise of individuals infected with the disease 'Oripathy' which are called 'The Infected'. Patriot is an 'Infected' and is over 200 years old.

Q: What is 'Oripathy'?
A: Oripathy is a disease caused by 'Originium', a fictional mineral in the Arknights universe that serves multiple purposes such as ammunition for firearms, power supplies and so forth. Once infected with Oripathy, the patient will slowly crystallize and turn into solid Originium over time before becoming another vector of infection.

Yes, this disease exists in the game thanks to the mod.

Q: What is the background of 'The Patriot'?
A: The Patriot, canon name Buldrokkas'tee, is a Sarkaz and soldier of 'Ursus', an empire very similar to the real world's Russia during its 'Imperial' period (1689-1916). He was a distinguished soldier and gained the nickname 'Patriot' for his service and loyalty to the Ursus Empire.

He would be infected by 'Oripathy' in his last battle as a soldier of Ursus in the 'Great Rebellion of Ursus', where he unknowingly killed his own son who was fighting for the Infected. This would cause him to question the ideals of the empire he fought for, and rebel. He would wage war against Ursus himself with soldiers that were loyal to him called the 'Shieldguards'.

Later on, he would attack an Ursus 'Originium' mine and rescue 'Yelena', a young girl who he would take in as his adoptive daughter, who is also infected with 'Oripathy'.

Q: Why does 'Patriot' talk with so many , and pauses?
A: During his last battle as a soldier of Ursus, he received a throat injury which impeded his speech. It became worse over time until he could no longer speak full sentences in one go.

Q: What are 'Sarkaz'?
A: Sarkaz is the name of a race in Arknights that resemble devils and demons with their horns. The Patriot is a 'Wendigo', a sub-species of Sarkaz, and is the last member of his kind. Hence, why he has a quirk called 'The Last Wendigo' and skill called 'Curse of the Wendigo'.

Q: Who are the 'Shieldguards'?
A: The Shieldguards are Patriot's personal army elites, each one carrying a shield as large as their bodies with armor thicker and heavier than themselves. Most of them were former soldiers of Ursus that were more loyal to Patriot than they were to the Empire. Together with Patriot, they became known as the 'Shield of the Infected' in the Northern Tundra of Ursus.

In the context of Darkest Dungeon, these Shieldguards are Patriot's party members. (Although sometimes it may not make sense in some of his barks.)

Q: What is 'Rhodes Island'?
A: 'Rhodes Island' is the name of a pharmaceutical organization as well as the Arknights' protagonist faction. It actively searches for ways to cure or suppress 'Oripathy' while combating the 'Reunion' to bring peace among the 'Infected'.

In the context of Darkest Dungeon, 'Rhodes Island' would be the 'Hamlet'.

Q: Who is 'The Doctor'?
A: The Doctor is the protagonist of Arknights and commands Operators in combat and is the head administrator of 'Rhodes Island'. He is a neurology doctor, and has no set name by the developers.

In the context of Darkest Dungeon, 'The Doctor' would be you, the Player.

Q: Who is 'Hellagur'?
A: Hellagur was a former soldier of Ursus much like Patriot, where they both fought alongside each other and became comrades-in-arms. After Patriot defected from Ursus, Hellagur had also become Infected and ran a clinic in Ursus that helped the Infected who were constantly oppressed and discriminated against by the Ursus Empire.

The trinkets 'Kudarikiri' and 'Hellagur's Book' belong to Hellagur.

Q: What does 'Chi Xiao' and the 'Long Sword' reference?
A: Chi Xiao and the Long Sword of the Lungmen Guard are weapons wielded by Ch'en Hui-Chieh, a protagonist that hails from the city of 'Lungmen', which is based off of Hong Kong. She is part of the L.G.D. (Lungmen Guard Department) and wields their standard-issue long sword.

Chi Xiao is a special blade that was given to her by Wei Yenwu, who is the Chief Executive of Lungmen. It is a sealed weapon that is extremely powerful, and only unsheathes when it allows the user to wield it. The set text: 'Chi Xiao: Shadow Assault', is the name of Ch'en's strongest ability.

Q: What does 'Blood-stained Draco Greatsword' and 'Deathless Black Snake' reference?
A:These two trinkets are a reference to Reunion's leader, 'Talulah'. She is a 'Draco' and sister to Ch'en who was separated from her by an Ursus Nobleman called 'Kaschey' at a young age. Kaschey lied to Talulah throughout her time growing up in Ursus, until he had ordered her to murder another Ursus noble. Talulah would rebel against Kaschey and murder him with her greatsword.

When raising Talulah, Kaschey had planted a hypnotic spell into Talulah's conscience which allowed him to be reborn as another personality inside of her should she ever start to doubt her own ideals. He is referred to as the 'Deathless Black Snake' because of this hypnosis ability. The full text of the Crimson Court set goes as follows:

"But should you recognise me, should you have understood me, should you realize just what sort of world you're standing in...You will become me."

Q: Why is 'Patriot' a part of 'Rhodes Island'?
A:This mod is using a fan-canon where Patriot joins Rhodes Island after being defeated in Chapter 7 of the game. In the actual game, Patriot dies as he makes an attempt for the life of Rhodes Island's leader, Amiya.
