No Echo Remastered V1.01 is an interesting and challenging map on Expert overall, and comes with some customizable extra challenge options, as well as a few language options for the map’s tips. We notably somehow accidentally set the language to Mandarin(?) rather than English, but it didn’t matter much, as the placing of the tips and common sense were enough for us to understand what the map wanted us to do during its various events and Gauntlets, even on our first try.

This map is set in a city and explores a good variety of urban interiors and exteriors. The levels were long, but didn’t feel too long, and the map offered good challenge with its Moderate Gauntlet events and its early scripted Double Tank spawn, the latter of which occurred just after the run-in with the Left 4 Dead 1 Survivors (this can be very tricky if you don’t expect them/don’t have fire handy).

The map notably was not very generous on general supplies, but provides you with an unusually high number of guaranteed Defibrillators, which we were sure to make good use of whenever someone was Black And White.

One notable issue on this map was its navmesh, which resulted in Commons and Specials getting stuck in some places, Commons behaving erratically, and the hit detection feeling a little worse than usual in some areas.

The Finale oddly takes place on the penultimate Chapter of this map rather than the final one, and was a good, challenging Defend-Activate Items/Generators-Tank-Defend-Moderate Gauntlet-Defend.

The true final Chapter of this map is a bizarre epilogue minigame where one Survivor drives the Crash Course truck through a winding, icy mountainside road, whilst the other three Survivors (pretty pointlessly) shoot out of the back of the truck with the guns they selected on the in-between area. Overall, I’d definitely play this map again, despite its quirkiness.
