New PDA
If this is going to be a new sentry, I think it should have whole new stats, and a new construction PDA. I tought about this...
Instead of rockets, the sentry would fire a laser that would deal 25% of the rocket's damage and cause the player to catch on fire. And since it only has 6 barrels instead of 12 from the original sentry, maybe -50% fire rate? These are just ideas.

The Mecha Engineer builds this kind of sentry instead of the traditional one...?

People won't like if they add a new sentry and players aren't able to build it.

I was thinking that... Since it's a laser weapon, maybe you would be able to charge the with the wrangler shot?
It would be like the cow mangler, however it would not be able to be airblasted and would have a area damage. If not using the Wrangler, then it would charge based on the remaining health of the enemy that the sentry is shooting at. It's complicated, but it might be awesome if it works out.

Thats interesting but I'm thinking personally of a single fire weapon but it's a continous stream where it shoots at a person 1 at a time but in between the continous lasering there will be Pomson and Cow Mangler-esque rockets shooting as well?

Well, it would be pretty much targetting only one player. The main guns would be firing at just one, and the laser beam would be the ranged attack, with a bit more (or less, to not make it OP) explosion range than the default rocket.
