Something not right??
Something not right?
  • Engine won't start due to low RPS
    • Modular engines will only start if RPS is greater than 2, so make sure your starter motors can spin the engine that fast or reduce the load when starting the engine
  • Engine won't start / Runs poorly due to AFR being too high or too low
    • Make sure the air manifold is getting its air from outside, and the engine is receiving fuel
    • Another reason this can happen is due to the "Aggressiveness to maintain Desired AFR" is too high try lower by one
  • Engine starts once, then dies quickly after
    • Make sure you have exhaust hooked up, and it exhausts outside
    • Make sure you have fuel and air
  • I want more power without adding more cylinders or a larger engine
    • Make sure all cylinders are not being exhaust choked at high load and high rps by looking at the tooltips. They should all say exhaust 100%. Adding a pump to the exhaust or adding more exhaust manifolds can help.
    • If using the engine to spin any impellers, consider using an electric motor instead of the engine to turn said impellers. Depending on the number of impellors and how high they are geared, this can give back a lot of power.
    • If you don't mind the noise and increased fuel burn, and higher risk of fire, consider gearing your engine so the engine revs higher, as modular engines do produce more power at higher rps
    • Adding flywheels can reduce the drop in rps from, say, suddenly increasing collective in a heli or changing gears in a car allowing for a bit more power. Adding flywheels does slow down how quickly an engine accelerates.
    • Supercharging an engine with an impeller or electric pump can easily give a 10-80% increase in power and generally is the go-to for more power.
