1st. Council of Direction - Doctrinal Policies
Hello Based Religious Conflict Enjoyers!

This will be the first of many posts of its kind, where I will be posting an idea that I have either had myself, or that I saw in the community.

The point behind the Councils of Direction:
  • Gauging community opinion of an idea
  • Harvesting feedback as to the specifics of said idea

These threads will be locked following implementation of the idea in question, and any further feedback should then be directed at Development Update posts when these are eventually made.

Idea up for discussion at this council:

Adding a range of empire policies to decide the original doctrinal nature of the religion
These policies (Not equally able for all religious groups of course) will cover topics such as:
  • Universality; Does our Divine have a Chosen People, or are all equal under its gaze?
  • Morality; Does our Divine have a set morality? If so, does it delight in Good or Evil?
  • Mortality; Is our Divine transcendent and immortal, or can it be usurped and/or killed?
  • Personality; Does our Divine communicate in any way with us? Or is it silent?
  • And many more!
These policies will grant or block off access to certain future mechanics, and/or give certain bonuses. For example, a mortal One God in the form of a Divine Emperor is very practical for controlling the people and state... but should they be slain it could be a staggering blow to the faith's legitimacy; potentially sending the Empire into religious turmoil.

A transcendent, invisible God lacks this risk, but of course, is also less... controllable.

Directions for debate
I am particularly looking for feedback concerning bonuses granted by these policies, as well as further integration with other systems. Of course, if the idea as a whole seems bad, please say so as well.
