It took a lot of experimenting, but basically, the lower you set your spring setting then the more the limbs and stuff can stretch and bounce around after the bot or player ides. Stiffness makes the body parts move less in relation to when they died, like if they were in an T-pose position when they were alive then if you had a high stiffness then their arms bounce around on the way down depending on the spring setting, but the stiffness makes their body generally be t-posing on the ground in the end.

So, I tried a ton of values and laboriously went through about 200 quick battles and tested the ragdolls on the entire lobby of 40 bots, and eventually I got something I liked. The value i find as one of the most realistic, with the most amount of allowance for the dead body to flop around, without making it look completely boneless, is this amazing value: 100 spring, 0.1 stiffness (Or maybe even 0 spring 0 stiffness)

I might return here soon in case I find better values though. Not sure why 0-0 seems good but it appears to be the only one where the arms aren't permanently bent like they're doing a bench press, or they're a-posing face down on the ground, or they're a weird jumbled ball of arms, legs and head

so yeah do 0 spring and either 0 or 0.1 stiffness

Cheers!

just as a footnote, i think the reason why the essentially vanilla ragdoll settings are more realistic is because the spring and stiffness values work for every part in the body, but in reality a real life body wouldnt have constant stiffness levels and such (if you get what i mean)

Actually, i got one i like even better, if you're still reading this stuff. 0 spring, 3 stiffness.
