Dinock explained. (Changed for new update)
Yoshi but not.

For starters. If you love melee Yoshi then you're probably going to love Dinock. I'll go over his gimmick, specials and how they interact with each other, and other things you'll need to know.

Main gimmick:

Dinock's gimmick involves him gaining "armor points".

"What are armor points you ask?"- Random guy who doesn't watch Johnny direct.

Armor points are a resource that Dinock uses to gain double jump armor, better moves, actual recovery, and stronger punishes. You gain these points by the use of down special which summons a "Rock totem" which you can eat with neutral special to eat the totem and gain these points.

Don't starve him of his rocks, Or else your a bad person.

Neutral special: You can eat the rock totem with this move and you're given a choice depending on whether you hold the button or press it.

If you press the button you get all three armor points. If you hold the button you won't get any armor points but instead you'll get a boost of momentum (if not cancelled) to do an "Armored strong attack" by pressing you're normal attack button. If you press your strong attack button while in this state then you'll get the armor points and still slide along the ground. This also makes your next attack have super armor when used, some moves will not be usable during this state like back air and all of his tilts.

Side special: If you do not have armor points then you will do a dumb little leaping grab attack like Diddy kong's but not nearly as good. Don't use it to recover, use the egg roll upspecial. You'll only make the other Dinock mains hate you.

Another thing you should know is that if you have no armor points then you will throw you're opponent in the air if you land this move. If you do have armor points then you can trap them in a rock and get some good damage off of it if you hold the button, pressing it will just act as if you had no armor points.

If you have armor points then he will curl into a ball and do a roll attack. It will have end lag so be careful. If you hit you're rock totem then you can jump cancel the roll attack. Note: Using the roll attack will cost one armor point but if you hit you're totem then you will get it back.

Another thing you can do with this move is that jumping in the air and hitting the totem and then pressing jump (at the right time) with allow you to gain a massive amount of momentum. Use this to go to the moon.

Down special: If you somehow already didn't know, this move will give you a rock totem. WHO COULD HAVE GUESSED?!

Holding the move will make him jump in the air and do a Yoshi down special (still gives a totem). Pressing the move will make the totem spawn quicker and won't be as easy to punish.

Up special: This is Dinocks projectile engine. It's just like yoshi up special. The only difference is that if you hit a totem then it will explode. That's it.

RECOVERY: I put this here in all caps so that people wouldn't read over it.

Using his side special on the side of the stage will now create a bone platform that any player can stand on before it dies of cringe.

Potential bug: I'm still debating whether it's intentional or not but using up special while in side special no longer give dinock a massive boost.

OTHER THINGS: Dinock has double canceling if you don't know what that is, it's basically where with some character's double jump there double jump goes slightly downward and by using a move you cancel the jump. Absa also has this mechanic.

Dinock can also turn around when he jumps. SO. If you combine these two forms of movement it can be really useful. This makes a really good thing with dinock where he can jump away and then double jump cancel back and hit you with a nair and then you go full ultra instinct on you're controller and then you have to buy a new one.

Complaint 1: Using fair off stage is basically a death sentence unless you hit it. Same thing goes with nair. They don't need that much whiff lag in my opinion.

Complaint 2: I wish up special wouldn't explode in the air and instead explode when making contact with the stage or an opposing player. That way it would be easier to explode the rock totem with it in some cases and get more use out of it.

Complaint 3: Yeah I'm one of those people. He needs some more range I guess.

Complaint 4: Add a hud above Dinocks head. It makes it easier to track the armor points you have. So you don't have to look down and back up since it's kind of annoying.

q&a:

Q:Does Dinock like apples?
A: Yes.

Q:Does Dinock like Durian's?
A: Who does?

End q&a.

Conclusion: Dinock is a really fun character to use once you understand him. Thank you Adam and Captain technicality. 10/10.

P:S Please tell me if there's anything I missed. Don't make me feel like moron when you tell me. Have a great day!
