How does the recovery work?
Sometimes it teleports me and sometimes it doesn't. Is it condition based? Is it based on my position? Is it based the ball's position? Is it based on my mind boost or something?

if you hold the button for the entire duration of the move, it will launch you. if you let go of it, it will teleport you

so basically, you gotta let go of the button after you create the Mind Ball, and you gotta move it to where you wanna be teleported to (think of it as Ness' PK Flash on smash bros).
Alternatively, either for damage when your head is fully upgraded or to launch yourself, you can hold the button to just make the ball explode.
