Orbital Stations
I had a question about objects despawning.

I had an orbital station set at a circular stable orbit, at around 90km. I did several orbits around the Earth like planet (no issues with asteroids etc, no orbital decay and well above the planet as to not clip any freak sized mountains) and decided to go off in search of Ice and resources).

Exited orbit in my shuttle, and came back roughly 30 minutes later and the station was gone.

Definitely didn't have dampeners on (infact thrusters were left off as the orbit was stable and perfectly circular and while I was on the station it didn't show signs of orbital decay) just in the off chance they decided to "Fire" while I was gone.

Question 1. Does the orbit "decay" even if it says it's stable.

Question 2. Does the dampeners and engines throw themselves on if you get far enough away after a period of time?

Question 3. Procedurally, would something be spawning into the orbital path?

The orbit can wiggle a little bit, but if it was going to move enough to decay, it would take much longer than 30 minutes. The dampeners/thrusters shouldn't be turning on if you're not there.

It may have crashed into an asteroid if its orbit came close to one. It's hard to tell unless you can find its wreckage in the entity list to verify. I haven't seen any orbits fully decay over time yet, but I have seen them wiggle enough that they hit an asteroid that they barely missed before. No extra things should be spawning while you aren't around that you didn't see while orbiting before.

The grid may also have gotten cleaned up if your cleanup settings are particularly aggressive and the grid was powered down. That usually wouldn't be the case unless you set them that way deliberately, or were playing on some public server where the cleanup can be pretty harsh.

Private server, and lots of power on the station.

Thanks for the advice, went and checked but didn't see any debris listed, but will check the cleanup routine, I didn't edit that but something might be removing it.

This is happening to me too, I cant figure out why. Did you find a solution?
I have the same issue when reloading the game, station despawned even so trash collection is off

This problem just happened to me, i threw up a test satellite in a stable orbit, well below any asteroids, it orbited for a few hours then i never saw it again
