You can thank Elabagast and Old Hermit, they originally proposed this idea almost a decade ago for the rockets that come out of the rocket launchers, but valve refused, but then later own used the idea for the Air Strike Rocket Launcher.
This would reuse his rockets, but be a client side visual update, that even if valve didn't want to change the fired rockets for performance reasons, this wouldn't effect as much, heck testing showed a max 3% drop on some models like the beggar rocket. Valve has nothing to lose adding this.
