Is it possible to allow the disabling of the automatic persistence function?

I use persistence files to allow different setups on maps, and these doors persist between all of those files, including when I want a completely fresh map.

I also make the doors themselves persistent because the addon doesn't seem to save the handles for the doors - this is an easy workaround, but results in the doors stacking upon themselves multiple times and unnecessarily bloating the save file with a new pair of doors per setup every time I load the map.
