Red line election was cancelled???

I was playing as the red line, and for whatever reason when the election countdown started it just completed itself at the same time, so now I believe part of my focus tree is locked off from me. Does anyone know how to fix this or will I have to go to an earlier save and try again?

Same for me. The election never happens and you only get to go down the NKVD path.
