i have a mod for minify everything, so i've been able to minify the sleep caskets with the occupant still in them, and hauled them home to safely figure out if i want to keep them or not.
I think they mean they don't want to open any caskets until they're sure they want to get a new recruit.
this exactly. i dont want to have to waste resources on pawns that may be a pain in the ass. so i put them in the "opening" room, and as soon as they pop out, i check their stats, check their powers, and if i'm not satisfied with the RNG, i strip them, tuck them into the slingshot, and wish them good luck.
back on topic, where's the dev command for spawning ancient vaults? cant seem to find it
edit:, nvm, found it under "spawn site" in map dev commands.
and this is the solution, that i already do. i just want to minimize the time the "dud" pawn is out and about with my established colonists.
basically, i like hauling back the casket. waiting for a moment i'm ready to add another "good" pawn to the colony. open the casket, pause, check the bio/powers. if they suck, make them drop all of their gear on the floor right in front of the casket, and immediately walk to the slingshot. i dont want Joe Blows to even eat one of the meals i made for the colony, he's not worthy, lol
Use the interrogation option that isolationist gives you on prisoners. Eventually one of the quests they spawn will be either a new sealed vault or a vault ruin. The latter will still have a transmitter in it leading to another vault.

yes. it placed a vault on the map. it's been so long since i did it that i cant remember whether it was placed exactly on the tile i click it on, or if it just spawned in the vicinity of my colony.
the bottom line, yes, it worked.
