Balancing Suggestions
Hey there, been playing with a lot of vanilla expanded it's really great. Thanks for your hard work.

Normally I dont leave suggestions, but I find looting the secured vaults is more annoying than difficult and really takes me out of the gameplay loop.

With 20+k HP walls, and 400+Hack HP big doors, getting into and around the vaults once inside is a massive micromanaging time sink - the threats inside and around the vault usually are little more than a couple of basic pawns and turrets.

This leads to my vault expeditions consisting of being the 20 int researcher and one melee unit basically going on a week long camping trip where they're periodically dropped drugs for mood and meals, however i have to micro-manage them the entire time as a pawn won't hack on it's own and will starve itself to a mental break if you forget to tell it to un-prioritise hacking.

While I love not being able to sweep through it or break it down, the time to hack is simply too high to be enjoyable when I need to get through 2-3 locked doors on average. I would recommend tuning this down to less than half of what it is - and increasing threat by reducing the amount of time between "caravan spotted" raids to compensate; more resources have to be allocated towards taking over and holding the vault rather than micro-managing every door in the vault.

Another thing is that the power-locked doors don't turn back on when manually reconnected via battery and wire. Not sure why, may be a conflict on my end but breaking down those doors is hell haha.


Thanks again for the content you provide, please see this as constructive criticism on balancing specifics rather than a complaint over the content you've put out for free. Many vanilla expanded modules combined feel like full-on DLC and I'm grateful for the work your team has put in on giving players a more enjoyable experience on the rim.

Sending a single 20 int hacker feels very slow, I'd rather send an entire squad with breach axes as all of them can target the same wall.

Maybe an alternative would be the ability to create single use hacking kits to bring on the expedition to the vault. They will not be cheap (in time needed to create) and you have to estimate how many you need. That means the long wait times in between each vault door is moved to before the expedition and can be automated via bills.
