Idea for Mending Table

Sorry if someone brought this up already; it just randomly hit me out of nowhere.
Has there been any thought about allowing the "mending" of an archotect shield belt in order to perhaps recharge it by spending a shield core, or even multiple cores, if that's better balanced?
