Sofia dies even if I unchecked the "Is essential" option
How do I get Sofia to regenerate health without constantly going to the MCM and reseting her health? And why does she die even though I unchecked the "Sofia's death is essential" option?

She needs to be set to "is essential" . Unchecking that box is why she can die and she doesn't regen health faster. Give her healing spellbooks if you have her as the default spellsword or other spellcasting class and she can self heal that way too.
Also giving her some piece of gear (ring, necklace, etc) with health regen enchantment helps her heal faster too.

I also recomend the Nexus mod version instead of workshop.

I added a second mod that allows you alter her appearance and Love the new look much better.
Jus search for Sofia on Nexus and you will find a number of mods for her as well as the base follower mod.

Look on Nexus for these:

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54527
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/61348

The first is the base Sofia mod and the second is a customizer... The customizer needs to see the .esm for Sofia to work and the workshop alot of the mods dont use esm files they use esl files.

Also ..... Workshop has some serious game breaking issues that they made back in a 2015 "update" and havent seemed to care to try and fix yet. This is why you will often see people in the
Skyrim forum reccomend NOT using workshop mods if you can help it.

Started using Nexusmods' Vortex, works AMAZINGLY.
Alliecienti 31 Jan, 2019 @ 6:12pm
Once I got the hang of using it... I like Vortex a ton better than NMM and I have had no crashes at all since I have much better control of rules and mod loading. Vortex allowed me to more than double my mod load. Had it pushed to the almost the limit and recently trimmed back to 208 active mods.
Also using the groups on the plugins is a great resource for keeping things lined up and organized the way you want instead of everything just dumped into a pile like dirty laundry.
For instance ... I created a group called "Follower Mods" and all my follower mod esp's go into that group so that they are all together in my load order list when I need to find any of them.
