I'm... Sorry for your loss...


...My Grandfather just recently passed away.
He had a Stroke a long time ago that gave him Dementia, and recently had Corona.
But that wasn't even what got him in the end. Just old age.

When he first heard of the news his mental illness, he was devastated. Couldn't find the energy to get out of bed.
But then we came into his life. My Dad was looking for a place for me and my Sis to stay while Mom tried to find us a home, and Grandma gave Dad a call.
And it gave him a reason.
A reason to get up, a reason to help around the house, a reason to be happy again.

Me and my sis didn't know that when we moved in, though.
Not word about the Dementia, or the Depression before we came.
But maybe it was better that way.
After all, he might've not lasted as long had we not joined him in his home.

I didn't realize how much he effected me until it he was gone.
While his mindset was that of a "Children do what their parent's say, no question" parent, he used to be a sweet guy, and it still glimpsed through from time to time.
And I suppose he helped me through the day as well. Emotionally speaking.


I'm gonna miss 'em. And I'm happy you know how much your Uncle mattered to you.

I wish I had moments like yours with him...

...Anyway, I'm making this a discussion so anyone who's had a loss recently can get it out of their system.
It's been a rough few years, so maybe this might help someone keep moving forward.
