THE WORLD OF 2052

Two rival tech corporations quietly battle for power over a fragmented, advanced Earth. This “shadow war” plays out over multiple continents through their large private military firms. Countries rely on these PMCs to deal with problems too shady to directly deal with.

Grendel Industries assumes the role of Eagle. Their troops wear bulky armored uniforms, granting them 50 extra health while slowing them down and making them larger targets. They use tried-and-true weapons like the RK-12 gun platform, though they have started to branch out into riskier ventures like energy shields and jetpacks. Their partnership with the Russian Federation grants them access to various small arms and vehicles from the country.

North Star Manufacturing takes the place of Raven. They prioritize cutting-edge tech above all else and aren’t afraid to take risks. As a result of this, all of their vehicles are outfitted with top-of-the-line laser weaponry. Some of their other advanced tech includes portable laser weapons and scout hoverbikes. They are closely allied with the People’s Republic of China and use some PLA-supplied weaponry alongside their other firearms.

On the surface, both companies are respectable tech companies that sell harmless products and promote humanitarian causes. Underneath their warm exteriors, they manipulate local governments and use whatever means necessary to undermine each other. Their grip on global power is strong enough to deter most countries from meddling in their feud.

Occasionally, outside forces such as the “Freeman” may intervene in their battles. His orange armor helps him blend in with North Star forces, though he may side with Grendel depending on the course of a battle. His 1000 health and faster movement speeds make him an imposing threat to any side he is hostile too. Killing him will deal extra damage to enemy reinforcements.
