Suggestions to improve the map
Hey 3kliksphilip.
I really enjoy your work and I'd like to review your map on what I think is wrong and should/could be improved. I'm about to sound negative so keep in mind I'm not mentionning what's cool about your map even if there are a ton of stuff :)


- The biggest issue : the clipping !!

Some places there should be clipping and there is none like these spots :

Some places there is clipping when I believe you should remove it (or fix it) :

http://i.imgur.com/Zns8NPp.jpg And you are stuck on the bags up to this point which is stupid considering you can climb it the same exact way from the side.
http://i.imgur.com/ZVeV3yt.jpg I actually like having clipping here but what is this weird block for? I think you should remove it and shorten the place the clipping starts and put it closer to the props, not simply having a smooth invisible slope which feels weird when seeing the props under you.
http://i.imgur.com/TYRBort.jpg This one is just WTF?? You can climb on the crate from against the wall but not on the other sides? Whyyyyy??? If you really want use to be able to climb here just put a displacement but don't leave it up to the player's knowledge of the map.

About the texturing/mapping :

http://i.imgur.com/cSKhJ30.jpg This one is minor but I think you should add a small ledge to the sides because right now it feels like it's uncomplete.
http://i.imgur.com/vA7q3ug.jpg Since this ladder is not attached to the wall, I don't think it should be totally vertical. You should add more angle so it looks more real.

This block is really bothering me too :

Because you can see there's an empty space just by looking where the walls turn and there is never a plain wall like this in any construction. My suggestion is to add some kind of chimney on the inside or removing the part from the outside so it lines up with the inner wall.
http://i.imgur.com/iFu7TPD.jpg I think it would be a good idea to be able to climb on this crate in A, and for this you could add some clipping on this edge like the crates in dust2 (on B site).

http://i.imgur.com/nZIvJKS.jpg You can get there by opening the door from the inside then jumping from the grave. My suggestion : auto closing the door after a delay or make it so it only opens toward the inside.

Alright I'm done with these screenshots, I hope you don't take it the wrong way, I'm just criticizing to help improving the map, I know I can sound a bit harsh some times but I don't intend to sound mean.

Overall I really enjoy your map and I hope it will be in the next operation!

I'm sorry, I've been busy over the holidays. I do appreciate all of the suggestions and feedback. de_sparity, as far as I'm concerned, is about as complete as I want to make it. I spent MONTHS adjusting things after finishing it and could be there forever, adding to bits and chaning what's already there. I feel more inclined to make a new map where I can use what I've learned from this project, rather than continually tweak a map that has had its day.

But who knows... at some point I might update this map with these suggestions. It's a lot more complicated than just re-compiling it though- it requires a fair bit of time and effort. Thanks again :)

Probably not, it was a HUGE amount of hassle :D Plus de_sparity's was a pretty comprehensive series.

Philipp the radar... The spawnarea and the the place where you can plant the bomb. Would be good to see this on the radar

Agreed the map is most likely as done as it can be, theres minor graphical layer bugs but there really not worth fixing, even if you do it usually pushes a problem to another spot. Everyone can always find something "wrong" with a map but for the most part it looks good to me personally. I liked playing it and watching the 13 part series even more :D let alone me and a friend loaded it up after i came across the utube videos while looking for Hammer tutorials, and she spent maybe 5 minutes plaing with the fish in the ice XD very cool touch and liked the glass sound from bullets / knife. Cant wait to see what the future has in store for other maps but i will definitely be following what i can.
P.S. the Anomaly and other grave stones are awesome, really adds something special to the map let alone giving it true character.
