DB EDITING
Post any questions you have about db editing here. This includes all of the tables in section 2 of the tutorial, land units, main units, abilities officers and generals. Anyone can answer, not just me.

For the Faction group we want to put, would I put, "roman" for Rome???

I also have a problem when i try too put my units name in the, "units_custom_battle_permissions", it says that my unit name is not a valid value for "unit' under main_units_tables???

Any Ideas???

A lot of people are having that problem. I think it has something to do with the newer versions of PFM. I have an older version and its what the tutorial is based off. From what I hear the new version is completely broken which makes absolutely no sense to me. I'll make some enquires on TWC and find out how to fix the problem.

What you can do is edit main_units_tables first and give the unit a new name and unique index. That should solve the problem.

I put the name in the correct area and gave it a unique index. Sadly it still cannot be put in as a unit, that same error described above comes up. It has a drop down menu with all the units in game listed I believe, so some how we got to get the custom unit in that list first. I am by far no mod, just trying this out to find out how people do this stuff. So if you know, let me know. Ill check TWC forum as well I suppose.

Well Sebidee, you did a great job and its all working for me now!
Sebidee  [developer] 24 Jun, 2014 @ 9:29am
cortez, I'm working on a solution to this. Unfortunately I can't figure it out for myself since my version of PFM doesn't have that problem so I have to rely on others on TWC which may take some time.

PublicChaos, if you get a mod out be sure you link it to me, I want to see it :)

Hi again Sebidee. Another question (probably moronic): When you get to the step about adding special abilities you instruct us to right click on db in our pack and "add from pack" the "land_units_to_unit_abilities_junctions" directory from data_rome2 .

When I do that I get the directory just fine but I get all the vanilla values for all 700 something units from vanilla, not a blank table, where you added the two abilities to your unit, like you showed in your tutorials screenshot. How did you get the directory and table without all those other things in there? Did you delete them (how?). Yeah I am new to all of these programs so today has been a wild ride.

Simple, select all the lines except for one and press delete. Then you can click "add new row" to add whatever number of rows you need.

Hmm, that's what I thought and did and nothing happened. Will just have to try again. Thanks!

When editing main_units_tables you must change the land_unit column to your own unit, but this can only be done by a drop down menu, on which my unit doesn't appear. any idea how to get your unit on to this menu?

Don't worry. In case anyone else was having the same problem, unticking the "use combo boxes" option seemed to work
