Single Player Fix
Let me preface this first by suggesting that cj_beards release a separate version of his map for single player! It seems like there's a fair amount of demand for it, and I think it would be popular.

But unless this happens, it seems like many of us trying to play this map on single player are having issues. One significant issue is that, if you're starting the game as one of the "good guys" (That's player 1,3,5, or 7), your teammates attack you at the beginning of the game and kill the fellowship. This really throws off the game, so I looked for a quick fix, and here it is.

Step 1: Go to the map editor, and load this scenario to edit.
Step 2: Once you have loaded it, go to the top left corner and click the diplomacy tab.
Step 3: Scroll down to the bottom left corner where you should see the text "lock teams" with a blank check box next to it.
Step 4: Check the box.
Step 5: Go up to the top right corner, and under menu, save the scenario. I recommend clicking save as and creating a separate save file from the original, so you can still use the original file to play multiplayer!

Step 6: Enjoy this fun map on single player!

Thanks cj_beards for your good work.

If anyone else has other issues with single player, feel free to make use of this discussion to post any fixes you find and help us all out!

Ok so, first off, thanks for putting this up as many people have been having this problem. Ok so let me adress the issue.

So I mainly made the map to be multiplayer and I think transitioning to turning the map into a singleplayer map might take away alot of the gameplay. The map itself is largely based around completing quests and what not, something computer players wont necessarily be able to complete. It is possible to play the map singleplayer but it is very hard to set what a computer player does. With 8 different people, 7 of them possibly being computer players, it would be nearly impossible for them to take specific objectives.

That being said, im not really sure what I could change to make the game specific to being singleplayer. I think if, as you did, adress that issue with your team turning on you (thanks alot btw), then the game in a singleplayer sense still works. It would be much easier to change the game if it was say 1 on 1, but with 8 different players im not really sure what else could be done to make it more singleplayer.

If I do figure out some way to possibly change the game in a way that doesn't really take away the main aspects of it with a singleplayer sense, I will probably edit this.

Again thanks, hope this helps
