Gimme your suggestions!

Things to keep in mind:


- I'm mostly looking to add more items (however many) for the next major update.
- If you find any character super hard or super easy or if you just have a neat idea, tell me and I'll take it into consideration!
- New animations have been requested multiple times, this might be something I do in the future, but not something I have the time to do now, idk.

- This is something I work on in my freetime for no money. Like most mods, it takes a lot of time to work on, a lot of skill to make and it is a present to all of you. I only know so much about LUA and I mostly add or edit things based on concensus from you guys, so a lot of your ideas or preferences I may not be able to make or may not be able to fit in. Stay respectful to both me and all the people who do enjoy and will be enjoying this mod. (and all other mods and modders. Be nice, y'all.)

CURRENT SUGGESTIONS AND IDEAS I'M CONSIDERING/WORKING ON:
[ ] - not done | [✓] - completed, but not yet updated

Character tweaks:
- [ ] Wei's nightvision altered through colorcubes, rather than additional light
- [ ] No sanity loss with eating monster meat in base game (Currently only works in RoG)
- [ ] Add either an innate fishing or catnap attribute to Wynter
- [ ] New secret character!


Item additions:
- [ ] Make Bug Collar and Bell collar alter how certain enemies react to you. May make bell collar allow for ghost followers instead of defending against them.
- [ ] Maybe more foods? Idk, I'm pretty fine with what I got.
- [ ] More kitty clothes, not sure what yet, just more than only collars
- [ ] Add physics to hairball barfs
- [ ] Add new sound effects for new item-related events (have sounds done for the bell collar, but not sure how to get it working right :U)
- [ ] Fix rhinestone collar, which keeps causing a square of light instead of a glow for some reason? Not sure why it's doing this because it seemed to have started this totally randomly.


Major additions:
- [ ] Catnip (OMG CATNIP HIGH THIS COULD BE A HILARIOUS THING YOU MAY OR MAY NOT HATE ME FOR IT)
- [ ] Unique catcoon interactions (Not sure what yet, exactly. Currently considering simply making them 'conversational partners')

MAJOR VERSION UPDATES:
v2.0 - Added Wynter and Wei
v3.0 - Added hairballs to all chraters
- Added unique craft tab for new item (five collars, a yarn ball, and a sweater)
- Updated all art
- Tweaked and rebalanced Wynter and Wei
- Changed eating habits of each character
- Added greater sanity loss in rain, varying for each character
- Possibly some other tidbits I forgot! :T

Idk if this sort of thing is possible but, what about a specific slot for the cats? some special items would go there and change their playstyle, or give them special advantages/disadvantages. maybe a collar slot for bug collars or something? :D

Idk, I could see how that might become pretty overpowered pretty easily? Like, there's challenge in the game itself by offering only one slot to use a wide array of bonuses, so you have to be mindful of what you're wearing and cater it to the situation, the character and your playstyle. I could see how a second slot would take away a lot of that challenge. Different kinds of collars with different bonuses sound like they could be pretty cool, though!

I had originally intended for Wei to start with a special sweater, he currently has a stand-in breezy vest until I get around to making it.
Fishing with paws may or may not be beyond my ability to make? I'll need to spend a while digging to see if I can figure it out. If it's added, it may end up as a unique trait to Wynter and/or Wisp. Wei won't be able to because he ain't got no claws! (he'll have special craftable items, though)

maybe you could make an item called 'fishing claws' or somefin idk and have it spawn with the cat, like wei's item do with him? like woodie's special axe i suppose. and it would work like a fishing rod and be unbreakable and stuff.

You could make wynters eyes just lines with no dots , make them able to craft a boll of string with a bunch of webbing and they use it to gain sanity like a heat rock to get warm, you could also make wynters body more buffer If you do this it would be awesome.

I think for most of them, if you were to change how they stand (tall order, I know), it would make this mod feel a lot more like they're Cats. If they were on all fours, bounding around, and "sitting pretty" at idle. Maybe licking themselves? That's just something I found while playing, not super important.

As for items, Claws could instead be a file to keep them sharp, or a scratching post structure to increase your attack for a certain period (or however many hits; otherwise, your claws go dull? Maybe only for Wei and Winter?)
A litterbox, for sanity and hilarity?

Actually, while i'm thinking about it (stepped away for a few):

Cat Scratching Post: New science machine, used to prototype all the cat bits and bobs. Needs rope, wood and...beefalo hide? Something for the catch to scratch on, whether they get a bonus or not. Just aesthetically makes sense.

Other things: Decoy toys? Little mice that wind up and distract enemies for a short time, very costly, or something?
Bows or other cat accessories? Ribbons? Bonuses to sanity, negatives to speed or attack, due to distraction by flashy stuff on the tail oh my gosh.
Also, the cats could carry the tools in their mouths if you do the all fours thing. Would be pretty adorable.

While I'd like adding running on all fours, with the size of the mod as it stands along with the future plans, I'm uncertain if it will even fit! Plus adding loads of new animations will just plain take a lot of time to make, so it's already at the bottom of my to-do list :U if I ever get to doing something like that, it may need to be a seperate add-on mod just to account for steams size limitations.

I'm still juggling the idea of making claws into an item, just because when multiplayer comes out, people could easily give their claws item to the declawed Wei, which might be problematic (he already glows, for gods sake, lol). If I can find a way to make them either stuck in your inventory or usable only be certain characters, I may add them as an item along with a craftable scratching post to repair them.

Indeed, I didn't expect you to add them right away, if at all; I was just waxing poetical. And the claws could be problematic, too true. Was just working off of what others had suggested.

Altogether, though, I love the mod, and it made me want to play Don't Starve after Months of it sitting in the dust. So thank you for that! =3

No worries! I might also see if I can make their innate melee bonus decrease over time and be increased via scratching post, which would take out the need for claws as an item, but idk how feasible that is.

two words, "litterbox". (i lied about the two)
please add a black and whight cat named jessie beocuse that is my cat its verry lazy and sleeps (aka brings 3 straw roles) and hates being attacked (or stroked) so she loses sanity when being attacked but has a lot of sanity to make up for the loss of sanity when being hit and also has high atack when being attacked becouse she lets her claws out then.
