First try I was shocked because my 200000 Manpower were instantly gone and like 100000 more were needed to refill my armies. I asked myself where the losses came from - the dragons took it. A dragon has a regiment size of 5000 and every cavalry unit will use 4000 manpower instantly.
On the second try I reduced the cavalry to 2 regiments per stack, it was like 15k infantry and 2 cavalry (dragons), it worked out very well. Having already founded Westeros as a country I started a war against some pirate states in Tyrosh. And it was a blast. The ai probably underestimated my armies completely, and attacked same sized while I had a way weaker commander. They got annihilated completely. On the first blow, 30'000 of them - vanished. A human would have learned, the ai didn't. I deliberately reduced army size, knowing the impact of the dragons and again and again the enemies got blasted.
Now I know why The Others had 13000 army size with 9 regiments, that bastard of a Night King fielded a dragon as well. With their superior generals (6/6/6) I could only contain those 13'000 with 80'000 men and and reasonable moving tactics, because the dragons are also insanely fast.
By the feature the joy to play came back, because after having united Westeros, I didn't feel like going to Essos, because in the meantime, Volantis, Mereen and Qarth grew to huge blobs and the Dothraki united themselves as well. It would have meant endless fighting, but with the dragons and a unified Westeros, I will plow straight to Asshai.
Thanks to the modders! great job!
(suggestions will be posted in the relevant post since this is only about dragons)
Is there a mandatory combination of nations/scenario/year ?
thanks !
