Rivals of Aether

Ristar, the Shooting Star
Balance Changes
Here's my first post for idea's of balance changes.

Free Fall Removal: If Ristar loves to fight in the air, he shouldn't have much if not any free fall moves. His Up Special has a lot of start-up and it would be nice to not have free falling after performing this move like Sonic. Also, why does Up Strong put him into free fall?

Up Special Charge: Up Special could be improved as well with a manual timing like Etalus' Up Special with the current version being the full charge version, he just wouldn't use it again until he wall jumps or lands on stage.

Down Special Grounded Rise: Down Special can also be adjusted on the ground to work more like a traditional ground pound letting rise into the air before dive bombing.

Balloon Weight: He would benefit greatly with these changes in exchange of being a lighter weighted character, perhaps even being one of the lightest characters in the game.

Final Note: I'm not a coder myself, but I think just a few tweaks of getting rid of all the free fall moves in exchange of making him the lightest character in the game is more than enough of a balance change.

Vertical recovery is meant to be Ristar's key weakness, so Up B takes a while as it's meant to be mainly used as a last resort to get onto the stage and not really as a movement/offensive option. Originally i was planning to make Up B chargable just like you said, but I felt like it would be very useless even if it didn't put you in helpless.

Just kindof a very easy way of emulating endlag. UStrong has far reach and reasonable knockback, so I wanted to make it pretty punishable if you miss your mark and putting him into pratfall was an easy way of doing this. DSpecial also puts him into helpless if he slams into the ground, but you can move around while bouncing so you can prevent yourself from bouncing off a cliff.

This is a good suggestion! It lifts you a tiny bit into the air already, but since the angle is kindof steep it's only really best used while on a platform currently. I didn't want to make the initial rise too high, as you have a really high chance of just flying to the blast zone if you use it from anywhere that isn't center stage, but I'll definitely take this into account!

Technically, he already is! Ristar has 0.9x weight, which ties him with the lighter end of the base cast. I could make him lighter, but that might be something I have to think about more.

thank you for your suggestions !

Knockback adj is higher values for lighter characters. So I presume therefore that his knockback adj is 1.1.

If its 0.9 then you've actually made him heavier than default.

The lightest characters in base cast have 1.2 knockback_adj.
