Suggestions and ideas
The title says it all: suggestions about weapons, tools, or any gameplay mechanic to make "Cops & Runners" the best gamemode ever.

I'll just write my ideas here for the moment:

RUNNERS would have the possibility to buy weapons/tools:
  • A teleporter (marking a location then you can tp on it)
  • An invisibility cloak which makes you invisible for "x" seconds/minutes
  • The ability to disguise as a cop so that you can sneak past the cops who are guarding the jail.
  • A gun/tool that makes a cop become a runner. So basically, the cops lose one of them
  • A tool which switch off, for a certain amount of time, the jail
  • A key to "unlock" yourself from the jail, the warden could also buy an ability to avoid runner getting freed from jail with this key.
  • As in TTT, a radio jammer, that disables vocal communication during "x" seconds. The warden could buy an anti-radio jammer to prevent that.
  • A tool that enables them to see the cops beyond walls for "x" minutes/seconds, or some kind of radars that refresh every "x" seconds.

COPS would also have the possibility to buy weapons/tools:
  • A tool for cops that enables them to see footsteps on the ground during some time, so that they can follow runners for "x" minutes/seconds
  • The ability to disguise as a runner: runner don't know who to trust !

Gameplay mechanics
  • After some time, objects spawn on the map, when all the objets are collected by the runners, one of them is picked randomly to be a "runner warden", he can place a jail, and by taging the cops, they sent them in the "runner jail". Would be fun, in my opinion.

  • When there is more than "x" players in the party, there is a second warden who also has to place a jail. The two jails can be placed near each other, or far from each other. A jail can only take "x" runners in it.

  • Handcuffs [?]

  • I was also thinking that it would be interesting, in my opinion, that instead of just "taging" the runner to send them in jail, you have to tag them to catch them, then you have to lead them IN the jail, they would follow you beyond their will, like, it would be scripted. But that would be some hard ♥♥♥♥ to do... too complicated I guess.

Yeah guys, you heard him! I'll be trying to add some more features to the game some time after initial release. You may or may not see them added, but this won't last long; after some time I'll stop adding to this gamemode :P

Just some ideas I had that I'll make if people like them:
- Right clicking the grenade throws a flashbang instead
- Ability to turn off jail, essentially turning the game into Freeze Tag (console command)
- Support for multiple Wardens; multiple jails. Random jail teleported to (console command)
- More jail sizes. Either selected by the Warden or through the console
- A Warden command system; place pointers like "Defend Here" to take leadership over your team
there should be a way to increase security for a jail. like for every tagged runner you can upgrade your jail in some way

The biggest problem to avoid in this gamemode is the over empowerment of the jail: a jail can be easily defended, if there is a bunch of cops near the jail, it would be very difficult to free your friends. I think that cops camping in front of the jail would a be a problem too but I guess we'll see later how it turns out !

well what im saying is like there would be small increases, like maybe non jailed runners move slower in jail area if so-and-so amount of runners have been jailed so far.

also maybe a way to spawn "hiding props". like a box that if a runner interacts with it he hides in it. but if a cop does then if a runner is inside. the runner is brought out and the chase is continued, but if no runner is inside and the cop interacts, then the prop is removed. to keep it from being too similar you can make the boxes bright or eye catching so its not prop hunt all over again.

I like that idea.
also im thinking as a bug fix there will be a flat prop spawned just below the jail so if there is a hole the jailed runners wont be falling down.

Adding a floor to the jail would make it very awkward on a sloped surface, where it doesn't just drop straight down. This has already been discussed by me and my beta team, currently it is up to the Warden to place a proper jail. This might change if a lot of people suggest it though.

And when talking about the subject, why not make it able to grab a ledge and being able to hang there for 10 seconds making it possible to make and ambush for runner or hiding from the cops. Due to the 10 seconds hang length you can't be unreachable forever and will falldown and won't be able to wall jump untill the 5 second cooldown.

Parkour is awesome in Garry's Mod for pretty much any mode, and it would fit perfectly for this gamemode. But I am not the best at Lua, in fact this was my first project in that language, so I wouldn't be able to figure out how to code that xD
Also it might break maps, any jump that's higher than the normal has potential to break maps. So I wouldn't add parkour into the gamemode itself, but I'll highly recommend getting a dedicated parkour mod for the server, similar to what we did with Hide and Seek with Parkour ;)
may i suggest a cash system in which if your a runner you get money for freeing a teammate and as a cop earn money for arresting. and this money will translate into the scoreboard. and those in the top 3 get certain purely aesthetic benefits, for example "rainbow smoke grenades" or special skins. it would motivate the players even more to do well. kind of like how hats in tf2 motivates ppl to keep playing.

I like the idea of rewarding well-playing players, but this would be too similar to a pointshop. I want to keep this gamemode simple and clean, only adding small features, or adding support for game-changing mechanics, or new gadgets to the Armed Runners.

However if I get a wide selection of new gadgets, I might use this system to 'buy' these and then they activate the instant you do that. Would simplify the weapon selection so I don't have to add support for a row of like 20 weapons xD

Oh, and yeah, special skins and aesthetic stuff is rewarded to the beta-participants and those who help the gamemode (by making an accepted background, or having their suggestion being simple and fitting so that it gets added or found bugs) ;)
