Development updates
This is where I'll post updates on how development is going, just to assure you i'm not dead.

This is NOT where patch-notes will be posted, that'll stay on the "change notes" section.

At the moment I'm tweaking the textures. The more detailed textures are in-game and working, but are far too bright/washed out due to the RVMAT settings, so I'm tweaking those. This is taking longer than expected as it's my first time messing with RVMAT's and I didn't anticipate how nuanced they'd be.

The mirrored models on the Spear and CT-68 have been fixed, and the Spear has been resized (as per your notes). Attachment proxies may have shifted during this change so I'll do another pass on those once I'm done with the textures.

Multiple pop-up errors should be fixed as well.

If I can't get the textures figured out by thursday I'm just gonna post the other changes and continue working on the RVMAT's afterwards.

The code for the basic version of the XM157 Fire Control optic is mostly complete.

To clarify:

The BASIC version of the XM157 will include only laser rangefinding and thermal imaging, similar to the vanilla Nightstalker scope.

The EVENTUAL goal for this item is an ADVANCED version that mimics the real scope's ability to rangefind, sample atmospheric data and windage and automatically calculate an adjusted reticle. This will also include other features such as a compass, quick windage reference and gridref.

I've reached out to someone much smarter than me who is an expert in these sorts of displays, so here's hoping he responds and is willing to teach me his ways. I may also need to get in touch with the ACE team to figure out how to essentially "integrate" their portable weather station code into the scope (if necessary).

As for the 3D model for the XM157, it may be done as early as next week. Key word is MAY. Once I've got it I can then transfer my code over and have it working in (hopefully) short order.

Development and bug-fixing for this project has thus far been "opportunistic", best way I can describe it. While I'm waiting for something to finish loading, I'll work on something else, while I'm waiting for a response from someone on helping me for one issue, I work on another one. So basically I'm just getting what I can get done at that time, which is kinda dependent on outside factors in most cases.

The things I CAN control I'm trying to get done in those in-between moments, which will likely mean that stuff that I know how to do and can easily be repeated will happen sooner than bug-fixes that I don't know how to do. Translation: there will likely be some extra content added before some bugs are fixed or improvements are made, as I'm using my spare time to mod, but I can't mod what I haven't yet learned. So I'm sharpening my skills and workflow by repeating the processes I've already learned.

TL;DR: There will be new guns and such before the original ones are COMPLETELY fixed in some cases. This is not me being "lazy" it's just me working on what I know how to do while I wait for help or resources on what I don't know how to do.

On that note...there will be some bonus goodies possibly coming with the XM157 update (along with bugfixes and improvements), including possibly some new guns and equipment. Eventually I'll probably split these things into multiple mods, like NI Arms, but for now it will all be in this mod. Just look at these weird and obscure weapons as bonuses to the NGSW's...because I had the models and the time...

The team has grown substantially since the last update. The "Smart Scope" update should prove to be a big one, with a lot more included than just it's namesake. I can't give a CONCRETE date, but it's not terribly far off, might be pushed back slightly to include more content.

Over the coming days I'll be putting out some strawpolls to help get a gauge of everyone's opinions on what to focus on and how to proceed.

Additionally, at the suggestion of some of you, we're investigating creating a donation page to help us buy/commission new models for the mod. I'm apprehensive about this, but if it was handled right it COULD speed things up in terms of getting our goals accomplished as far as new weapons implementation is concerned.

Most important note, the Smart Scope update will include all necessary signed keys.

Appreciate the continued support!

So as noted, the XM157 update did NOT include some of the weapons I had intended to add as little bonuses. This is primarily as I wanted to get some bug-fixes out ASAP, and had the scope ready to go so it was thrown in there as well.

We ARE having a strange issue with the keys where they are working with SOME people but not others, it may have something to do with these most recent few updates to ArmA, this is being investigated.

The results of our poll are CLEAR, and the MG68 is going to start being worked on soon.

Our team is getting a lot of second-hand help but we're still looking for people with more experience in specific fields. Primarily, we're looking for people to help with custom reload animations and custom sounds.

The scope of the project may also be expanding, if anyone has experience with VEHICLES and wants to help please contact me.

As always, thanks for all the awesome encouragement and support, I've been hearing cool stories about these weapons being used in ops and it is a great motivator.

Plenty of exciting developments.

Obviously we all know the contract has been awarded to SIG, and we're gonna change the names to reflect their new official designations.

The next update is taking a while to get here as I have a lot of changes and new responsibilities at work that I gotta adjust to, and as our wonderful model maker has been busy as well. Worry not I have not been lazy however, I've been learning new stuff for modding and talking to a lot of people who have given great advice.

It's gonna be an exciting few weeks/months for the mod if everything goes according to plan.

Thanks for the support once again!
