Left 4 Dead 2

Left 4 Dead 2

Freezing Point (Campaign + Survival)
Snype's 1st Review - Freezing Point
Rating: 4 / 5

Pros:
  • Map design was interesting and visually appealing, especially in the lab portions. Great visual storytelling going on there.
  • Map flow encouraged exploring, even if you've already found a key item you needed to advance.
  • Well balanced on the amount and frequency of supplies, throwables, and weapons.
  • Interesting, custom wall text.
  • Some funny dialogue moments.

Cons:
  • Very short campaign length.
  • Finale cutscene was very anti-climactic, it looks more like we died in the car than escaped.
  • The escape vehicle could have used a bit more on it to indicate that it was, indeed, the escape vehicle. Maybe some lights or something.

Some other notes that I didn't get to or that were more subjective:
  • The computer bit was really funny.
  • I did see the drawing of the escape vehicle in the safe room of the Finale mission and knew we were trying to find an armored truck to escape in. However, when we finally reached it, I thought it was just an empty, static object due to it not standing out visually from other static cars. Its positioning in the center of the road did mark it out as distinct, but there was some split second hesitation on my end as to whether or not it was actually the escape vehicle.
  • I hate Crescendo Gauntlet events. Sometimes I think they are done well, but when you have to rush straight into a horde and they are constantly respawning in front of you, I hate it. I think this was as bad as say, Dark Carnival's Barns event.
  • You fooled me and my friends with the broken keypad. We were sure it would work if we found a code. So cruel . . .
  • Loved the Resident Evil inspiration.

A video of my friends and I playing it, if that interests anyone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN2Lih7_n_4
