Trying to come up with factions for a campaign across knox county
Was thinking this takes place starting about 6 months to 1 year in and I was thinking survivors have started to cluster together. This is what I have come up with just as a general outline so far. If I decide to make something (if you don't see anything by me in about 6-9 months posted by me feel free to make use of this outline) I will have to make a modified Knox County Map to go with it. The campaign will start in/around Rosewood and move east to the Grand Ohio Mall. I am mostly looking for a sounding board here.

The list will be moving west to east mostly

Knox county jail.
Controlled by the county sheriff and consists of a few deputies and their families as well as a half dozen surviving inmates. Maybe 50 people total. Most isolationist of the bunch and other than farming supplies and maybe gas in the long term don't lack for much due to the prison riot supplies.

Marsh Ridge Community Center
Survivors here have managed to get the community center and school secured as the Community center was an original rally point for screening and evacuation before that plan was scrapped by the military. As a result, they got most of the survivors from Rosewood and Muldraugh netting them around 100 people total. I was thinking of adding a lake and hardware store to the area making their immediate needs met and making their most pressing concern lack of firepower as they only have a few hunting rifles/shotguns and a few hundred rounds between them. (given none of the locations have large weapon cashes other than the rosewood police station and that was picked up by the sheriff)

Doe Valley Church
Survivors here are led by the local pastor. Due to the town's small size of only about 300 the area around the church was able to be secured quickly and survivors from Riverside trickled in resulting in about 40 survivors. Given the farm and hardware store as well as nearby auto shop and doctor's office these survivors don't want for much other than better defenses given their poor position and mainly hunting guns. (was thinking about adding a large gunshop where the building under construction next to the boat club is to give you a reason to go out to Riverside as currently there is not really anything to draw you up there really. Open to it if someone has a better idea)

Army Checkpoint
I planned to move the checkpoint west to the bridge where it actually makes sense and set the army up around the West Point American Tire and Abandon Racetrack. Not really any survivors here just zombies and loot.

Valley Station Mall
Basically where the survivors around the checkpoint ran to after it fell. An unwitting Sargent helping process survivors found himself in charge of this group. While these survivors have food from the food court and barricade supplies from the construction to the south as well as medical supplies from a doctor's office in the mall they had to leave behind most of the firepower at the checkpoint and long-term food & water options.

Hunting Lodge / Shooting Range
Led by the Lodge & Ranges owner these half dozen survivors are wary of those occupying the mall to the south and have the firepower to hold their position. Maybe you can make peace?

The Gangsters of Gigamart
This group controls the area south of central park from the pawnshop to the bank. They have just about everything they need but actually getting their position secure has proved difficult.

The Foremen
Based in the golf club (yes I know it is a bad pun) on the north end of central park This group has been making supply runs as far out as the horse track but have been unable to locate any real firepower and given their proximity to the hospital and nursing home that has made securing their position almost impossible.

XTreme Survivors
Making runs across north Louisville These survivors have been doing fairly well for themselves but are lacking in medical supplies.

Military Exposition
What's left of the army that did not make it out when the bridge was blown took shelter in the expo center and started fencing off blocks all the way to the Fossoil Field and Ohio River. Likely the largest single concentration of survivors and supplies in the city led by a Captain after pretty much everyone of higher rank was killed in the blockade breach or was north of the bridge when it was blown and communication was lost.

Grand Ohio Mall
Lead By the Knox Talk Radio Host (I am 100% calling him Hank East. Worthless internet points if you get the reference) and comprised of everyone in the north half of the city unwilling to trust what is left of the army. He is trying to get a signal out to figure out what is happening north of the river and across the rest of the country and world.

The Epicenter
I also planned on redoing the rosewood Biolab to make it worth venturing out there again though I did not plan on having any living faction out there hence why it is out of order.

Thoughts on the basic outline of the 10 factions and their needs and relationships? Is there anyplace else that would make sense to have another faction? (also before someone says the Riverside Country Club I thought of that but I can't see any way to fortify the place for a large number of people without totally redoing the area or an amount of resources not really found in the area) Also if anyone has any clue where I can find the info on how to do map edits I would appreciate it.

The best you can do is use the debugger mode and know the exact coordinates of each position if you want to add something to the vanilla world.
