Here to Answer some of the questions about the mod that regularly come up.

What is the brewing process?
To get started you will need basic brewing items - Empty Carboy, Empty Cooking Pot, Sugar, Yeast, Malt Extract, Hops, and Water. You will also need to have read at least the first homebrewing magazine to have the core recipes. Once you have the base supplies and base knowledge you:
  1. Make Wort - fill water into the cooking pot and add in malt extract
  2. Cook the Wort pot and afterwards pitch yeast which requires an empty carboy, sugar, and yeast
  3. Place the new fermenting beer out in the world and begin the waiting time (between 5 - 8 days depending on the beer style
  4. Once finished you can bottle or can directly OR if you are skilled enough keg the beer
  5. If you are doing a Pale Ale you will need to add Citra or Mosiac hops to dry hop and ferment a second time before bottling/canning/kegging

Where can the items be found?
Here is where you will find most things from this mod:

Hops/BrewingKits/General Supplies - Gigamarts, Supply Crates, and Places that store or sell alcohol

Empty Kegs - Generally RARE spawn at Bars, Brewery, Garages, and Tool stores

Books and Magazines - same places at the same rates as other skill books and recipe mags

Full Cans and Bottles - Band Practice, Bars, Liqour Stores, Beer Fridges, general stores that have beer, and sometimes in the kitchen

My Fermenter isn't changing no matter how long I wait?
This is a doozy as it is the heart of the mod! An important thing is to understand how the timer functions. It is currently set to run a check at the top of every hour (7:00pm, 8:00pm, etc.)

  1. It establishes a starting time when placed and logged correctly
  2. It counts the difference between start time and current time each tick (delta)
  3. Once this time reaches an established total the script tells it to swap to a different item (hopefully your finished beer).

Now here lies some possible problems.
  • You must be in the near vicinity of the fermentation item
  • If you leave the area and come back and not enough time has passed (reaching that top of the hour mark) the script doesn't have an opportunity to check the time change
  • Too many Fermenters in one spot trying to be checked (tested to work fine with up to 24 going at the same time - more can create problems)

A simple solution would be to make sure to place down any fermenters at the 50 minutes mark and waiting until the time makes it to the next hour. This will make sure the start time gets logged. When checking on your fermenter also check at the 50 minutes mark and wait until the next hour. If it doesn't change in that hour or one hour later than it most likely just started the timer.

Will be brainstorming how to make this a smoother process (establish start timer when placed, not at top of the hour, and possibly faster check time when super close to the item)

Why might my game be stuttering after adding this mod?
This may be due to the script checking the start vs current time function in the mod to switch the item to brewed beer. After integrity testing in single player this starts occurring after placing more than 24 down in an area. In my experience the stuttering only occurs when right next to the items.

Solutions - don't put down so many in the same spot/adjacent spot. If you need to speed up the game for more than an hour walk a few squares away from any fermenters. This means don't put any near any sleeping locations.

This mod is still very much in development and doing my best to learn the ways of PZ and its code!

The update today (05.15) should alleviate some of the stalled fermentation being reported. I learned that the time tracking mechanism was incompatible with a couple other mods built in a similar fashion (greenfire and hydrocraft to name a couple). I made sure that MoreBrews code doesn't intersect at all now and will work alongside any other mod that has a similar time tracking process.
Just started trying out this mod. My brewing skills is at 2 and tried brewing pilsner which is supposedly the easiest beer to brew? I cooked the wort, and then tried pitching the yeast into a carhoy but I keep getting skunked beer? Not sure what am I doing wrong.
i filled up my cooking pot with water and i dont have the option to put malt into the cooking pot, not in crafting menu as well
Hi Mackus - working on a distilling mod that uses a Still crafting table. Wondering if we can have a brief chat about interoperability between the two mods. Sent you a friend request, or I'm on the main PZ discord as CacTye - feel free to send me a DM. Tried finding you there but can't seem to.

How does beer skunking happen?
