hey i'm not very good with this stuff I've got it all hooked up and its working but when i switch to plane mode it keeps going up and down like a wave going above then back below the set point its not able to correct fast enough i believe but i don't know what settings to adjust.

Sounds like a PID values problem, I'm guessing the default PID values for plane doesn't seem to work in your setup. I honestly am not sure as well on which of the values to tune I usually just do trial and error on which best behaves my setup and I find the values currently inputted rn in the MC fine though you could fiddle with the P = Plane value P stands for the proportional value, you could give it small bits of numbers for starters to see how accurate/close it can get to your desired altitude. But if it's struggling to reach your desired alt then try giving it a bit of I = Plane I stands for integral value, the more you give it the faster it tries to occilate in your desired alt I suggest giving it only bits of value. I may be wrong in some of my points but that's what I usually do and it seems to work just fine and yes I'm no expert when it comes to PID but I just do trial and error. If you want more guide to tuning then you can check this out https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2804873858.
