First, there are islands with burned-down trees. Cut one down, and you'll have ember.

Second, if no burned trees are available, in this mode, treed drop seeds.
Plant a tree seed, and water it with a bucket of chemicals, and after a while it will grow into a burned tree.
This is best done near a lake full of chemicals, but you can always just carry a few buckets of chemicals on your raft.

I think I messed something up. Just grow the tree in the plot and throw a bucket of chemicals on the earth right after?
We are realy stuck because we can't find ember.

I think I grew trees on the ground, not on the raft. I don't remember the rest of the details.
