Raft Mechanic [CUSTOM GAME]

Building submarines advice.
The engines of industry demand metal. As any mechanic, I disdain just swinging my pick all day, especially underwater.
The answer is, of course, to build a mining submarine.
So far, mine aren't very good. Can you give me some advice?
Things I have figured out so far:
  • The submarine's main problem is balance. The best way to deal with it, is to attach a few raft foundations to the roof of the submarine in a symmetric way. With that as a basis, submarine will stop flipping around like a dolphin, and you can safely experiment by adding heavy things or ballast tanks.
  • The best material for a submarine is stone. Possibly upgraded to concrete. This stuff is heavy, and will allow your submarine to actually go underwater. Also, it has few other uses in the world of Raft Mechanic.
  • One drill is good, but many drills are better.
  • Drilling rocks too quickly causes the game to get unpleasantly slow. It seems that only ready-for-refining "logs" matter for this one. My newest iteration of submarine includes the gathering cage, but I have not tested if it would be able to properly gather "logs" underwater.
  • Drilling often ends up with all the rock on the floor, so wheels seem like a good addition to a submarine, to simplify sea floor navigation. Still, the submarine seems to jump all over the place, and not drill much.

I've had a lot of luck using a small car that has downward fans to keep it on the sea floor

that can be inefficient if youre mining for long times or dont have an upgraded engine, though it is way better due to ballast not changing their weight that much, so your strat is better for smaller sub's
