Here are the basic mouth shapes, a.k.a. visemes: http://0.tqn.com/d/animation/1/S/7/2/mouthpositions.jpg I'd suggest two passes.... the first just open and close the mouth along with the lipsync, then go over it again and add the lip movements. Exaggerate more pronouncedly on the vowels. And if there's a lot of complex sounds in rapid order, it generally reads just fine if you exclude the shorter ones. Lipsyncing is easier than it seems, and with a little practice, you can get it down. I hope this answers the question for you.
