I am currently working on Version 3 of the ship models. These models will support using scanned card images without fiddling with UV maps. New versions of the mod include a chest with the completed V3 models, as well as tokens that show you how to format your scans so that the model can properly use them.

Generally speaking, as long as you arrange both sides of the card scans as shown in the model's Texture Example, and combine them into a single image, the model should accept it as a texture with little issue.
