Any way to make CSM turn on on map startup?

You can use the sbox persist feature,

goto a map do “sbox_persist csm” place the csm somewhere hidden away and right click it in the context menu and click make persistent
any way to save settings made on the editor?
Any future option for PCSS making distant object shadows softer and sharper shadows with closer objects
Next one very improbable but maybe support for volumetric light (Fog Volumes) like seen in the stanley parable to make indoor scenes a little more immersive
Great mod btw just dumping some ideas in :)

Haha pcss wouldn’t look good at all with this setup and would be super laggy, volumetrics will probably require custom shaders. I might consider pcss but volumetrics would be hard

PCSS wouldn’t be real pcss tho an would just be similar to what the soft lamps addon does

Similar, I used to use that addon a lot but it wasn’t real csm and it’s stupidly laggy, this mod looks wayyy better while being bigger and faster

The PCSS in that isn’t real pcss neither is the CSM real CSM
Definitely agree your mod looks better and the performance is miles better obviously i'm no modder and can imagine it isn't simple to implement a feature like that in a nearly 20 year old engine but was just throwing some ideas your way for those who have the pc to cope with the stress of it, or for those who want to turn gmod into a benchmark for your $1000 graphics card

hahaha yeah I understood, it’s not particularly the difficulty of implementing it (should be easy, I think…) more so my laziness in the way
i wonder, why did you not make it an option instead make it an editor that you have to spawn in?
