why this thing shouldn't be added
The burly beast is funny, the heavy lifter is funny, the jungle booty is funny, the dynamite abs are funny. This is not. This is weird, and kinda creepy that someone took time out of there day to create a revealing scout cosmetic. I'd rather have another over-the-top unusual, than this. The burly beast is hilarious. The medic's role is to be a healer and a support; being really weak in combat. It is funny that he was given the burly beast. Medic isn't a "beast", he is a support and a healer, meant to stay out of combat and in the back lines, behind his team. The heavy lifter isn't even meant to be weird, it's just meant to be cosmetic that alludes to the fact that heavy is one of, if not, the strongest merc canonically. The jungle booty is funny because, since heavy is canonically the strongest and most masculine merc, it is that heavy is scene to be wearing short-shorts, typically a more feminine clothing choice. Along with all of that, it has a funny name, which gives context to the fact that this is a joke cosmetic. The dynamite abs is also not even that weird. Demoman is in-game, and canonically, one of the strongest mercs as well. He is a damage machine that toys with his own life with explosives. It would make sense that he would be buff and muscular.

On top of all of this, people should also take into account the setting of the game. TF2 takes place, at the latest, in 1972. But mostly in the 60's. America's stance on some groups of people isn't as polite and accepting as modern day. Another thing to mention would be that, TF2 takes place mostly in the Southwest, where it is scorching hot. Scout already wears a standard, basic red shorts-sleeved t-shirt. The bare minimum for combat with, fire, bullets, explosives, electricity, and blunt and sharp weapons. But, it makes sense, scout needs breathable clothing, in order to be as agile as he is.

Please don't add this to the game valve. #savetf2

The crop top was invented in the 70s when male bodybuilders cut the bottoms from their shirts for workouts because gym codes didn't allow them to be shirtless. The crop top was not a 'weak', 'feminine', or modern invention. Also the name and sweater make it a Bill and Ted's Excellent adventure reference, a movie in which a confident (and and even homophobic) straight male wears a crop top and a sweater around his waist

its so ♥♥♥♥♥♥ funny to see the amount of backlash a cosmetic can cause. why does a fake piece of fabric make these people so mad?

TF2 takes place somewhere in the 60/70s, but there's a divergence from our timeline happening somewhere in the 1800s.

TF2's universe is full of whacky things, yet a cRoP tOp is too much for you?

I see multiple people posting hate comments on this discussion. The point of discussions are to discuss. I simply have different opinion. There's no need to be passive-aggressive, witty, or toxic. #savetf2

because this has been discussed to death. crop tops were chic for men since the early 70s, specifically popularized by sports-players and gym-goers skirting gym rules that banned being shirtless in the gym. at the time they weren't seen as specifically gay through a common lens, it was trendy and chic and masculine. Scout is an athlete/sports player in the 70s, by every regard this is a trend he would want to hop in on because he wants to be seen as masculine and cool.

but even if none of that were true, it's still ridiculous to say that this isn't appropriate for tf2 given myriad other cosmetics that skirt the boundaries way harder. and I'm not even talking about stuff like the train of thought, I'm talking about the burly beast, dynamite abs, JUNGLE BOOTY. somehow in 2014 the notion of giving Heavy short shorts was silly and all in good fun, but in 2022 putting scout in a crop top is an affront to the art style? make it make sense! and I was there brother, EVERYONE liked the jungle booty.
