that is probably some other mod, I play multiplayer pretty often and I don't see anything breaking.

Why does this contain nearly every single texture file for hl2? I assumed this would only touch the models shown in the preview images, but no. This is like everything. Was this intended?

it literally says in the description that this replaces MORE then whats in the screenshots.

I see, but this seems overkill. Most of these textures are identical to what they are 'replacing'. For one example, the metropolice textures are exactly the same, the only different file is the .vmf file. (Unless theres a different alpha channel I didnt notice)
Thought its possible Ive missed some small changes in things like all the map textures included

I understand that quite a few textures are identical to their modern counter parts, but this addon can be for people who's computers can not handle HDR and do not want the lighting and reflections on textures to be all messed up without it.

since all the textures use specular mapping instead of HDR

When i deleted the mod the textures wouldn't go away

Verify the cache, delete the addons folder, or reinstall the game.

nevermind i fixed it i had my settings set to low

Turns out it was me doing a ARG thing

For me alyx has a black texture

when I disabled the mod it was normal
