My idea:
Attacks on wounded targets give an medium duration melee attack-speed buff, and a less potent but longer lasting attack-speed debuff. Consecutive attacks add time and magnitude to both status effects. This makes a frenzy style dagger, where the more you hit the faster you strike, but after the rush leaves you are left sluggish and must wait out the de-buff to become effective in melee again.
